Week 4

English - In English this week, we finished writing our reports about the Stone Age and then took our learning a step further by turning them into mini-movies. The children searched for suitable images to match their facts and carefully put them together to create a visual storyboard. They then recorded voiceovers using the information from their reports, bringing their Stone Age knowledge to life in a creative and engaging way. The class worked brilliantly on this project, and their final movies were fantastic to watch!

Geography - In Geography this week, we have been learning all about Antarctica and its extreme climate. We discovered that it is the coldest place on Earth and that no one lives there permanently. Instead, scientists and researchers stay there for short periods of time to carry out important work because the temperatures are far too cold to live there all year round. We also learned about Ernest Shackleton’s famous expedition and plotted his journey on a map to understand the challenges he faced. To link our learning across subjects, we explored symmetry in Maths with Mrs Bewick and then used our new skills to create our own symmetrical snowflakes. The children loved combining their geography and maths knowledge in such a creative way!

P.E - In P.E. this week, we have been developing our football skills. The children worked in pairs, taking turns to play the roles of defenders and attackers. The defending pair had to block and intercept the ball, while the attacking pair worked together to try and score a goal. Everyone showed great teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the session. Well done, Year 3!

Library - It was our turn in the library this week! We love to get a book, relax and spend time reading amazing stories!
