Upcoming State and District Required Assessments:

In our spring semester we will be administering annual state and district required assessments. Please make note of the dates for the assessments your child will be taking and, whenever possible, please avoid absences during the testing periods. Please note that, on testing days, if students arrive late after testing has begun, they will not be able to join their class until testing has completed for the day. Having students on time and present on testing days helps us gather valuable data while minimizing interruptions to daily instruction. Please help us meet that goal!

Typically, assessments begin in the morning and conclude each day prior to lunch.

**IB Primary Years Program Evaluation Report**

For the 22-23 school year, Riffenburgh underwent a rigorous evaluation of our IB program. Our evaluators produced a final report with their findings and we wanted to share some of those findings out to our community! We are highlighting one finding each newsletter. There are several standards of practice that IB looks for when doing an evaluation. Over the next few weeks, we will focus on what they found in the Learning: Ensuring effective education - Approaches to teaching.

Approaches to assessment  Students take opportunities to consolidate their learning through assessment.

  • Students, teachers, and parents use a cloud-based portfolio (Seesaw) to organize examples of their learning.
  • Teachers use assessment tools and strategies that allow students to reflect on attributes of the learner profile.

**Check out more about our IB program through our school website!

Curriculum Engagement Night - Communications

Jan. 9, 2024

Hello PSD staff and families,

Members of the Poudre School District community are invited to a Curriculum Engagement

Night to review materials being considered for science, social studies, math, and secondary

literacy curricula in PSD. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the

implementation of PSD’s new elementary literacy curriculum

This session is open to the public and scheduled for:

• 4-8 p.m. Jan. 25, Lesher Middle School, 1400 Stover St, Fort Collins, CO 80524

The purpose of this night is to allow staff and families to examine materials being considered for

adoption, ask vendors and curriculum facilitators questions about the materials, and provide

feedback that will inform the PSD Board of Education’s adoption of materials. Participants will

have the opportunity to move among vendor rooms to view the respective materials.

We look forward to your participation in the process and the feedback you will provide. Those

with questions may contact Curriculum Director John Passantino at jpassant@psdschools.org.

Sincerely,

Poudre School District
