A reminder that the school day begins at 9 am, with Period 1 and roll call. Any student who arrives after 9 am is required to present to the school office and sign in at the Attendance Kiosk. If they are late and do not sign in at the office, they will be marked absent for the whole day and their parents/carers will receive and Absence SMS.
Term 1 Sport Selections
The Sports Selection Portal opens on Monday at 8 pm
Yesterday, all Year 7 to 10 students received a note about our Wednesday afternoon Sport Program. Selecting a sport will be a new experience for our newly enrolled students and additional information has been emailed to these families.
School Sport runs each Wednesday afternoon for the duration of the term and is a compulsory part of the Years 7 to 10 BBHS curriculum. All students are expected to participate.
Term 1 Sport will start on Wednesday 19 February (Week 4).
All sport choices MUST be made online via a link that will be sent to the STUDENT’s Department of Education (@education.nsw.gov.au) email account. Students can select their choices online at home on Monday 10 February, from 8 pm. Computers will also be available at school on Tuesday and Wednesday if they do not have access to a computer/device at home.
Cavanbah Centre - lost and found uniforms
The Cavanbah Centre has contacted the school to advise that they have an extensive number of Byron Bay High School uniforms in their Lost Property. Many of these items do not have a name on them. If your child attended a sport at the Cavanbah Centre last year and is missing uniform items, please swing by the centre to have a look in their Lost Property.

Youth to Action Summit in Vanuatu
Last Term, 3 Byron Bay High school students Eva, Rowon and Hannah, along with HSIE teacher Mr Galletly-Salisbury travelled to Vanuatu to take part in the Youth to Action summit. The summit focused on sustainability, with the students from Vanuatu and Australia working closely in relation to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The students formed lifelong connections with other amazing students from the 4 Australian and 5 Vanuatuan schools. Throughout the conference the Australian students worked closely with the schools from Vanuatu to develop innovative solutions to the problems they face in their communities and schools. After developing their solutions the schools presented their ideas and action plans, and were all given a grant to bring their ideas to life.
“Going into the summit I was incredibly passionate and excited, but had no idea just how passionate the Vanuatuan kids would be too. Problem solving and talking with them was incredible and the finished results were even better. Being able to learn with them like that has been such an incredible life changing experience for me that has really made me consider what we all take for granted.”
Overall, we are so grateful to all the teachers and students who made the conference possible and can't wait to see how the Youth to Action program develops!
