LES TROIS VALLÉES March 2024

Les Trois Vallées or The Three Valleys is in the Savoie region of the French Alps is by far and away, the largest ski area in the world with about 600 km (370 mi) of ski slopes. Each of the three valleys has its own style and caters to a different clientele. But one thing is clear, the ski conditions are superb in all three sectors.

The Méribel Valley is central and the ridge that separates it from Courchevel to the east and Val Thorens to the west has several crossover points with spectacular vistas. Being above the clouds in the valley is a heavenly experience.

Méribel Mottaret is enormous and offers fantastic views of all three valleys. The area gets crowded at the beginning and end of the day as skiers from Couchevel and Val Thorens cross the valley to get to and from their destinations.

Val Thorens and Les Menuires are probably the most popular destinations of Les Trios Vallées. The upper areas have excellent snow quality, long runs with abundant lifts, and world famous après-ski.

The village of Courchevel 1850 is known for being posh. Of the three valleys, Courchevel is the only one with its own airport, high-end boutiques, and luxury chalets. Aside from that, it has gorgeous vistas and excellent skiing conditions.

Méribel Centre hosted several events during the 1992 Albertville Olympic Games. The village caters to families and offers activities for beginners and non-skiers alike.

The small town of Bride-les-Bains is the closest access point to Les Trios Vallées from the train station in Moûtiers. From the Télécabine de l'Olympe, access to the slopes is a 35-minute gondola ride with stops in Les Allues and Le Raffort before terminating at Méribel Centre. After a 5-minute walk, access to several chairlifts and gondolas are abundant.
