Class Photos - Tuesday Next Week
Another extremely busy week at school. With mixed feelings we seem to have been hosting a lot of transition meetings. The mixed feelings come from the fact that the end of the year is approaching rather too rapidly. In all seriousness, I am extremely grateful for the links that we have with our secondary school partners and some of the opportunities that are in store for our year six leavers sound absolutely fantastic. I am sure that they will thrive although we shall miss them terribly!
Year 3 Earhart class had an amazing day at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. This is definitely one of the more exciting places to visit in our region. I was particularly captivated by the story of the Ukrainian lions - even though when we visited, they spent most of the time asleep! At least they weren't hungry and looking in the direction of Miss Keen et al.
All the children enjoyed a visiting theatre performance this week. The Jungle Book has always been one of my favourite stories and was brought to life in exciting style. The children certainly loved it and the buzz of the theatre at Birkwood is always a joy to see.
Thank you to Miss Hutchinson and Miss Sabin who hosted our ‘New to F2’ meeting in the school hall. An excellent turn out enabled us to give some of our newer families some information on what shall be in store in September. It is always exciting when children commence their full-time school education, and the staff did a wonderful job in reassuring our families what is on the way. I can certainly vouch for the very friendly warning that the school uniform will be very messy very often! A magical time!
Huge thanks to anybody who contributed some sweets on the non-uniform day today. The summer fair [weather permitting] is always a brilliant afternoon. Every Friday the non-uniform donation will be something slightly different. These donations help immensely so again thank you.
Remaining with the donation theme - we had this beautiful card from Macmillan cancer. So many of us have been touched by this illness and the work carried out by Macmillan is outstanding. They could not complete this without the incredibly generous support from people like our kind, loving and caring school community. A huge thank you for this!
The Sports Pitch is also on the way! You have probably guessed that I am excited – the new play space is almost here.
Grassroots sports Academy and Barnsley College have united to offer an Esports team after school club. The club is for children aged 8-6 and runs every Tuesday and Thursday, 5.30pm to 7pm. The cost of attending is £25 for the whole month! Every session is full of games and activities to suit everyone!
As ever, have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine. Remember the suncream!
