Setting the Scene: The Pacific Lutheran University women's lacrosse team continues its opening homestand of the season tonight, welcoming Eastern Oregon University to East Field.
Series History: This is the second all-time meeting between the Lutes and Mountaineers. The two teams met in PLU's first ever varsity lacrosse game last year on Feb. 16, with the host Lutes coming away with a 12-6 victory in a game Taylee Alldredge scored a still standing single game record six goals.
About the Lutes: Pacific Lutheran (0-1) opened up season 2 last Friday, battling Southwestern University on East Field. The Lutes were level with the visiting Pirates until the final six minutes of the game with Southwestern pulling away late for the 8-5 victory.
Three different Lutes scored goals and four tallied assists on a night the team was without the services of 2025 leading scorer Taylee Alldredge. Issabella Marchio finished with two goals and an assist, including a game-tying goal with 10:27 left in the game. Kathleen Swankowski also scored twice while Gracie Check had a pair of assists.
Paige Hackman scooped up seven ground balls while Kassie Diller saved 12 of the 20 shots she faced over the 60-minute contest.
About the Mountaineers: Eastern Oregon (0-3) heads to East Field searching for its first victory of the 2026 season. The Mountaineers have already played three games against Northwest Conference opponents this spring. That began on Feb. 7 with a 20-2 setback at Willamette University before coming up just short 16-11 to Pacific University in EOU's home opener on Feb. 14. That game saw the visiting Boxers lead wire-to-wire with EOU's Gemma Gonzales scoring six goals on the day.
EOU's last game was on Feb. 21, getting upended 23-1 by defending NWC regular season and tournament champion George Fox University.
Gemma Gonzales is Eastern Oregon's leading scorer with seven goals over the opening three games while Jade McCoy has four goals and one assist. Maddie Wicks has played every minute of every game in goal, making 21 saves with a .263 save percentage.
Luteville, USA: The Lutes 2026 roster features 16 student-athletes that hail from six different states. That includes 10 players from Washington and two from Oregon. PLU also has players from California, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
NWC Preseason Poll
The Lutes will be looking to buck expectations in year two as a varsity program after being picked ninth in the NWC Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Feb. 20. PLU secured 10 points and sits six points shy of eighth-ranked Pacific University. Whitman College and George Fox University are tied at the top, both securing 59 points.
