A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

From Turkey Trots and Dress Like an Elf days to the joyful Sounds of the Season and winter concerts, it’s impossible not to feel the excitement and energy of the holiday season throughout our district. Everywhere you look, there are moments that fill our hearts with pride and highlight the strength of our amazing 1Warrior community. This holiday spirit is evident in the many food drives led by our schools, ensuring our local food pantry can meet growing needs during this time of year. It also shines through in the heartfelt, handwritten notes from our high school music students, thoughtfully paired with each of the nearly 600 poinsettias they donated to local adult living centers. In countless ways, the essence of being 1Warrior is on full display. Our schools and community are special because we come together to support, celebrate, and care for one another. Our schools remain among the best in the state thanks to the relentless dedication of our staff and the incredible support of our families and community. Together, we truly embody the 1Warrior spirit! So, let’s embrace the joy of these final weeks of December and make every moment count! Winter break will be here before we know it.

Summer School Registration

Registration for our Muskego High School summer school program will be open at 8:00 a.m. on February 11 through 3:00 p.m. on February 17. 2024-2025 Fast Facts

Every year, we compile data related to school performance and achievements to bring our mission to life across the system. To support our mission, part of our strategic plan is to measure data in three different categories: Exemplary Student Learning and Engagement, Highly Effective Personnel and Expert Teaching, and Sound Stewardship and Community Support. From academics to co-curriculars and everything in between, we are excited to share our highlights and achievements from the 2024-25 school year.

2026 - 2027 School Calendar - Board Approved

The 2026-2027 School Calendar was shared last month. As a reminder, it can also be found on the Muskego-Norway Schools website. Please note the student start date for the next school year is Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Parents United

Parents United is a non-profit consortium of southeastern Wisconsin special education departments that have joined together to provide an educational community service. The lectures and presentations offered each school year provide essential links, knowledge, and networking to the entire community for the ultimate benefit of our students. The mission of Parents United is to present timely and relevant information in a neutral forum for parents and professionals who work with children.  Click here for the Parents United website and click here for the 25-26 brochure of all events.  These are flyers for  the next five exciting upcoming events:

School Board Elections

Two at-large school board positions are up for election in 2026 for three-year terms: Robert Bohmann and Jason Szemborski. The Notice of the school board election was published in the Wednesday, November 12, 2025, edition of the Waukesha West County NOW. Interested district residents who are eligible may file a Declaration of Candidacy and a Campaign Registration Statement at the Educational Services Center, S87 W18763 Woods Road, Muskego, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning December 1, 2025. The deadline for filing is 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.  A primary election, if necessary, will take place on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. The spring election will take place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. If an incumbent is not running for re-election, a written declaration of non-candidacy should be provided at the Educational Services Center no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025.

Threats are Taken Seriously

Please remember that if you or your children see or hear something suspicious, you should immediately report it to an administrator, a School Resource Officer, or call the local police department. We are committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for our students, and we are fortunate to have strong partnerships with you, our parents/guardians, in our district. With threats occurring more often in school districts, it is important that we take a moment to lean on this partnership and ask you to have a conversation with your children regarding the serious implications of making a threat to a school. Such behavior may have a lasting impact on a child’s education and future. The impact on the entire family is profound. Rather than waiting, we are asking you to personally discuss this issue with your children now. Whether a student perceives making a threat as a joke or “not a big deal”, making a threat toward a school could result in suspension, expulsion, and/or being charged as an adult with a felony. According to State of WI statute 947.015: “Whoever intentionally conveys or causes to be conveyed any threat or false information, knowing such to be false, concerning an attempt or alleged attempt being made or to be made to destroy any property by the means of explosives is guilty of a Class I felony.”  We continue to encourage our students and school community to report through Speak Up, Speak Out (SUSO) anything that could constitute a threat to school safety. As always, we work closely with local law enforcement to assist in these situations. Thank you for taking a moment to have this discussion with your children.

School Safety

Please know that Muskego-Norway Schools have safety plans and practices in place to prepare our school community for a crisis. Safety efforts and procedures include:

  • Three (3) Muskego Police Officers serving as School Resource Officers in our buildings. We lead Waukesha County and all rural school districts in southeast Wisconsin when it comes to staffing police in our schools.
  • District and school-level Emergency Response Teams meet regularly with the Muskego Police Department to research and implement the most up-to-date procedures in protecting our students and staff from dangers in a crisis, as well as disseminate to staff at all buildings our safety procedures and protocols to follow.
  • All external doors are locked during school hours, with supervised main entrances at all of our buildings.
  • Visitor entry is permitted only with official identification.
  • Annually, MNSD conducts all state-mandated drills, including two "lockdown" drills.
  • Background checks are required for volunteers and staff members to enter our schools and work with students.
  • Students who leave the learning environment during school hours and return are required to check in through the front office.

We know that schools are safest when students, staff, and families work together to reduce violence and address potential safety issues. We are asking that you continue to monitor your child’s and others’ online and social media activity and report any school safety concerns to law enforcement and school officials immediately.  We are grateful for your partnership as we work together to keep our children safe.
