Bubbles

Bubbles is a photo of oil and water. I put my laptop under a glass plan which I filled with water and canola oil. I loved taking these photos because it taught how to take photos up close. These photos were also fun to edit in photoshop. I would love to do this again with new backgrounds and see if it would look different with different oils.

Imagination

Imagination is a surreal photo. I had a lot of fun making this but it definitely was a lot harder than it looks. I think that this photo was a cool idea and I like how it turned out but it definitely could use some work. I hope that I will continue trying things like this in the future because of how fun it was to put the photo together but it isn't my favorite photo I have taken this year. I hope the audience has fun looking at it and maybe you will see a new and improved version in a couple years.

Lignum Truncus

Lignum Truncus is Latin for tree stump. This also has to be one of my favorites because of all the different textures. I love how the photo is still interesting and well composed even with it being neutral colors that tend to be more boring. It is also interesting to look at the rings on the tree and how it is like a spiral that continues into the background a little bit. I am curious what other people would think about it.

Beautiful Pines

Beautiful Pines is a photo taken of a pine tree branch. I love how you can see all the textures and how defined it is. Then it slowly goes out of focus as the branch gets farther away. I also love the shade of green the pine needles are. This photo definitely reminds me of Colorado and how beautiful the pine trees can look all year round.

Little Pond

Little Pond is a photo of someone dipping their hand into a small body of water, hence the name little pond. When editing and photographing this piece I wanted to experiment with the different elements of photography. I wanted to incorporate different textures, reflection, and depth. I like this piece but I would try to incorporate more white or lighter tones into the photo if I were to do it again. The objective of this piece is to spark some curiosity and wonder for the audience. It reminds me of when I was little and would make “potions” in the backyard, that's what I hope it does for the viewers.

Flame

Flame is a reflective photo of a candle. I love how the candle flame looks and the light glowing around it. I also love how the candle looks in the reflection. This photo is one of my favorites of the semester. If I could retake the photo I would make it not in such a dark environment. You can’t see the bottom base of the candle or what it’s resting on so it is just in a void of darkness.

Long Road

Long road is one of the first photos I took. I love this photo because it is super simple but it is really nice to look at. I love how the colors turned out and how the girl was on her scooter. I think that this is one of the best out of all the photos I took this Fall. I hope the audience agrees and also enjoys looking at it as much as I do.

Tropical Paradise

Tropical Paradise is a photo of a giant leaf that we might find in the tropics. I like how this photo taught me the rule of thirds and helped me learn what not to do and what to do. It was also fun editing this photo to get the leaf a shade of green that suits the photo. This photo was definitely a learning experience. I am glad that the photo turned out the way it did and I hope that the audience agrees with my opinions on the photo.

Playful Bubbles

Playful bubbles is another water and oil collage. I love how the colors go together and it spreads across the whole collage. The photos were so much fun to photograph and I love how most of the photos turned out. It was hard to get good quality photos sometimes because of the screen i used for the background but I think that these photos turned out great! I would love to do this again with new colors.

Best Self

Best Self is a photo of my brother in the bathroom mirror. When I first took a picture of this piece I didn’t really like it and I was just finishing it to finish it. But after a few weeks of not looking at it I like the symbolism behind this piece. I want this piece to represent looking at your best self. A lot of people don’t look at their best selves and are comparing their lowlights to everyone else's highlights that we see on social media. So by coloring in the reflection in the mirror symbolizes looking at your best self. I believe that is a really important thing people should know.

Time Passing

Time passing is a tripatch of my brother. I love how cohesive the photos are with each other. It was hard to make the editing match on all of the photos. I think it looks good in the end result even if the editing is different on all of them. I think it helps tell more of a story. This photo helped me work with skin tones and different lighting situations.

Rock Garden

Rock garden is a picture of a wooden troll found in Colorado. The artist named her Rita and she is surrounded by beautiful scenery. I loved taking the small hike to get to her and I was able to take this photograph. I loved being able to play around with the saturation and the shadows of this photograph in photoshop. I named this photo Rock Garden because it looks like the troll is planting the rocks and there are tons of rocks all around her making it look like her garden. I highly recommend going and seeing Rita for yourself if you're ever around victor Colorado.

Sweet Summer Sky

Sweet summer sky is one of the first photos I took, if not the first photo. I love this photo because it reminds me of one of my most fond memories. I love the gradient color in the sky and how it is such a deep blue then fades to a light pink. The trees also really encapsulate the classic Colorado summer night for me. The trees also give more contrast in the photo which is a nice element to have. I hope the audience can have some similar takeaways from the art as well.
