Dear parents/guardians,
Thank you!
Last Friday provided a lovely end to a successful half-term. Thank you for your ongoing support. I hope that you have had a restful half-term break and we look forward to welcoming pupils back to school on Monday for what has become our 'Summer Show Season!'
Donations
Both Morrisons and Nisa made donations towards our summer fete to improve profit margins. A big thank you to the parents who arranged this.
Warm Weather Reminder
Pupils spend additional time outside learning during the summer term. Please ensure that pupils wear sun protection and a sun hat as appropriate.
Play Equipment Update
You may have noticed that some of the play equipment to the rear of the school has started to look a little scruffy. During the second half of the summer term we have extensive refurbishments planned.
Attendance
I have written about attendance on a number of occasions. Since the COVID-19 lockdowns, attendance levels in schools across Wales have dropped significantly. Desite a year on year improvement, our attendance levels are not as high as they were in 2019, or the years proceeding. Notably, attendance is also lower on a Friday than on a Monday to Thursday. This was also the case prior to the implementation of the asymmetric week. During the summer term, please support us to improve our attendance levels. Everyday in school counts and pupils will miss out on learning, fun and school events. Thank you for your support in this area.
Trip Highlights
We have lots of summer trips planned already with several annual highlights. Our year six pupils are leaving for a residential visit to Bala; year five are visiting a meadow on Wednesday; year two have a special visit to the church planned and in just a few weeks year four are camping on the school field! An exciting summer term ahead!
Curriculum Update
During the second half of the summer term years 1-6 all prepare for an end of year production. There is an enhanced focus on Expressive Arts during the Summer Term. We are planning an evening of performances on Wednesday 10th July!
Free School Meals
If you qualify for free school meals, please register even though all children now receive a free meal.
A significant part of our financial funding is linked to the number of pupils who are registered for free school meals.
Best wishes,
Mr. Williams.

Attendance Reminder
Well done to Year Two who achieved 95.5% attendance this week. You are our best class this week. This is the second week in a row. Well done!
Don't forget the really useful guidance provided by the NHS: Is my child too ill for school?
This will help you make a decision about whether to keep a child off school or send them in. Please remember that minor coughs and colds should not prevent a child from coming into school.
This time of year is really exciting and busy. If children miss school they are not only missing learning, but often will miss lots of our special events and activities, which makes them feel left out.
