The Wave term 4 week 4

Relieving Principal's Message

Firstly, I would like to start by addressing the sad news of the passing of Mrs Sharon McFadden. Sharon was a wonderful woman who was incredibly proud of her beautiful family. She worked for the Department of Education for over 34 years touching many students and teachers lives in each school she belonged to. Sharon was a kind and caring teacher who wanted the best for her students. She cared deeply for them and the relationship she built with those in her classroom was obvious to us all. Sharon was an incredible colleague who I greatly admired. She was hardworking, honest, reliable and dedicated. To say that she will be missed by us is an understatement. My heart breaks as I send my love to her family. To all our students and families, we feel your shock and pain at the sudden loss of someone so special. I appreciate all the thoughts and well wishes shared on our Facebook page over the weekend. If you believe that your child has been heavily impacted, please let us know as extra support can be provided.

Our School Production “Are We There Yet?” was held over three shows on Wednesday and Thursday and I am not biased in saying that it was a roaring success!!! The quality of each classes performance was top notch and the dance groups and choir performances were outstanding! I wish to extend a huge congratulations to the main cast for being such incredible hosts and taking us on an exciting journey around Australia. I am always absolutely filled with pride when I see how successful our students are and this is no exception. I would like to acknowledge the amount of work that a production like this is for our staff here at Ballina PS and give each and every staff member a shout out. A special mention goes to the Events team for their planning, organisation and creativity behind the scenes. That team is Mrs Mary Cameron, Mr Luke Ansell, Mrs Mel Franklin, Mrs Angela Allen, Mrs Danielle Latinovik, Mrs Rosie Barker, Mr Blake Henderson, Mrs Lee Yabsley and Mr Rowan Butt.

Kindergarten Orientation officially begins this week with our 2026 Kindergarten students spending a three-hour session with us on Friday. We are very excited to get to know them better and welcome them and their families to our school community. Have a great fortnight and hug your loved ones a little tighter.

School Production

Last Friday, some Yr 3/4 students participated in a NSW Cup Netball Gala Day. We had two teams entered into the social competition. Both teams represented Ballina Public School superbly. Although some students had never played before, it didn't take them long to work it all out. Students had the opportunity to play many positions, and they had a fun-filled day. Some students even left the netball courts saying they want to play netball next season! These gala days are held every year. Mrs Franklin has trials at school. If your child is interested, please encourage them to try out. No experience is necessary.
