Spotlight on eyfs
eyfs have had a very busy term.
This term EYFS have been learning about important people. We asked parents and our local community to come in and speak about their profession or give an experience to our children. We had a local dentist talking about dental hygiene, 2 lifeboat crew speaking about water safety, a local farmer who brought in their tractor for our children to sit in and questions about and finally the local fire station sent in a fire engine and crew to speak about their role in the community. We also attended Skegness Grammar School for an EYFS movement day, allowing the children to experience activities they don’t always get to try.
WORLD BOOK DAY
On Thursday 5th March we celebrated World Book Day in school. The children looked fantastic in their costumes and we started the day with a special assembly where we heard from the author of the Bunny vs Monkey series, Jamie Smart. KS2 then took part in the National Literacy Trust's official World Book Day quiz, the Footy Booky Quiz. It was tough!
In the afternoon, all children had chosen a class book to create artwork about and then used this artwork to decorate their classroom doors. From Elmer the Elephant in Year 1, to the Guinness Book of World Records in Year 6, all the doors are so unique and the children are rightly so proud of them. The Reading Ambassadors and Mrs Harris chose the winner and it was...drumroll please... 6G! What a brilliant day!
Key STAGE 2 SPOTLIGHT
A huge congratulations to the football and netball team, who represented RPA at the Primary Cup this month. All children behaved impeccably and were praised for their sportsmanship. The football team finished second in the competition, earning themselves some medals - well done!
Another huge shout out to the dance squad who represented RPA beautifully at the national dance competition in Stevenage, finishing 6th out of 18 squads!
Year 6 also completed a DT curriculum day on Tuesday 24th March. They designed their products and planned approaches before using a range of skills, including reading scales and proofing the mix to follow the recipe. They created very tasty scones in the afternoon and enjoyed these with jam and clotted cream!
A huge welcome to Mrs Wood
Mrs Wood will take over as headteacher at Richmond from September 2026! Rachael has sent this message to you all: At the heart of my approach is a simple belief: children thrive when they are in school every day, on time, and feeling supported. I am deeply committed to creating the conditions that make this possible. Every child deserves the chance to shine, and that’s why I set high expectations for learning, behaviour, and opportunity - because I truly believe all children can excel when we work together. Having been part of a headship team that helped lead our school into the top 1% nationally for Year 6 SATs results in reading, writing and maths, I’ve seen first‑hand what a strong partnership between staff, families, and pupils can achieve. I’m really looking forward to getting to know you and working together to help every child flourish. I hope you will all join me in welcoming Rachael and her family to Skegness and our close community school.
