The gym buzzes with energy and excitement as students gather on the bleachers, awaiting the start of the spirit assembly. Suddenly, a wave of cheering erupts as seniors in white shirts and green pleated skirts—decorated in colorful handwriting and doodles—burst into the gym. These students are the Westridgettes, a beloved Westridge tradition. Each year, the graduating senior class hands down their Westridgette skirts to the rising senior class, preserving a legacy of school spirit. Known for their lively dances, the Westridgettes enhance assemblies with energy and fun through their elaborate routines.
Each Westridgette carries a unique title tied to specific attributes, such as activities or student affinities. Being a Westridgette means not only promoting school spirit but also carrying on the legacy of now-graduated friends and siblings.
With their next performance around the corner at the December 20 Holiday Assembly, the Westridgettes are excited to show off their skills and hard work, even branching out into new dance styles. Westridgette Captain and Spyglass Contributor Carolina H. ’25 said, “We certainly have plans for our next performance…so look out, everyone. We are doing our traditional holiday spirit day dance. If any of you remember what's happened in the last couple years, then maybe you'll understand my hint there.”
Meet each of this year’s Westridgettes through Spyglass’ Q&A!

How do the Westridgettes add to Westridge’s spirit?
“I feel like they're at the core of it. We aren't a very spirited school. We dance so we can bring spirit in a very intentional way. I feel like that isn't a part of Westridge culture in any other way; I feel like we're spearheading that spirit.”
