Message from the Leadership Team

Dear Noadswood families,

We hope that this newsletter finds you well. We’d like to start as we always do by thanking everyone in the Noadswood family for their support and commitment to ensuring the best educational experiences for the children within our care.

We’ve had a fantastic trip to see Six the musical, a superb sports day and an excellent celebration of Y9 achievement with our friends at Applemore to name but three events! A special thanks to Mrs Rees for the music trip and the PE department for their superb work on Sports Day. Not to mention the colleagues and students alike who threw their hearts and souls into participating, supporting others, or organising and joining in with a super fundraising Happy Hour.

Going back to our Pride and Ambition in the Waterside event, we had a wonderful time celebrating some of our Year 9 Noadswood and Applemore students together, who have shown great commitment, pride and ambition this year across our local community that we love. We worked together as two awesome teams of staff to create an awards ceremony held at Applemore with performances from my incredible choir (almost on tour, we were!) and the very talented Year 11 Band from Applemore, not to mention us all joining in with Applemore’s Chair of Governor’s lovely rendition of Let it Be. I have mentioned to our own Chair, Alison Munden, that we need her to rock out a hidden talent next time! 😉

Thank you to all the staff and students – and superbly supportive parents and carers - who have worked collaboratively this year to bring our schools together and to celebrate the success of our students. So much more to follow in September.

We’d also like to thank you for your recent massively improved support of our recent ‘Wear Something Different’ days: we'll update you on the total raised but all funds will be going towards school projects!

We wrote last week about financial support available to families, so just a further reminder: if you would benefit from skool kit or supermarket vouchers please reach out to your child's year leader so we can arrange this prior to breaking up for the summer holidays.

It is the time of year where the Noadswood family says goodbye to year 11 but also to some of our much-loved staff. Some of whom are retiring such as Mrs Huttley who joined us in 1994, Mr Rosenwald’s off to travel the world and many who are heading towards the next stage of their career. I am sure as you see the list below, you would join us in thanking them for all of their contributions to our Noadswood family and to wish them the very best in their next adventures. Their impact across the school has been phenomenal and we’ll miss them very much.

Mrs Huttly, Mrs Cacchi, Mr Wooster, Mrs Welsh, Mrs Gee, Mr Rosenwald, Mrs Kitson, Miss King, Mrs Cole and Mrs D Smith.

We also said a fond farewell to Kerry and Dylan Brown this week who have run our Go Fish Mentoring scheme for many of our young people who’ve needed it the most. Our students have gained so much from their time and inspiration with them, and we wish them the very best in the future!

Best wishes,

Kathryn Marshall and the Leadership Team

Attendance and Safeguarding

Wow! A huge well done to all students who rose to the challenge of our summer term attendance streaks. We have given out over 500 vouchers for free cookies and cakes. A big thank you to our wonderful canteen staff for managing the additional baking to get these ready. We’re so proud of the students who have really worked to have excellent attendance over the last few weeks of term.

We will be relaunching a new attendance challenge in the Autumn term.

We know that for some students and their families, the summer holidays can bring extra stresses and worries. A reminder that you can still reach out to us with any safeguarding concerns. Mrs Loveday will be checking in regularly and available at various times in the break.

There’s a huge number of resources available and we’d like to remind you again on the Hampshire Children’s Safeguarding and Partnership which has a wealth of resources and signposting for a variety of issues: Parents & Carers Hampshire SCP

CAMHS also have a dedicated website for parents and carers which can be found here: CAMHS

We also encourage students themselves to use these links as well as other platforms such as Kooth and the ThinkNinja App which provide messaging platform services should you need to reach out to someone.
