Remixing Fourth Class

In the new academic year 2025-26, the Board of Management of St Brigid's GNS will introduce the practice of remixing classes at the beginning of fourth class on an annual basis. What this means for each individual student is that some of the girls in their class will move to the other class in their year group and some of the girls in the other class will join their class. The process of remixing will take place at the end of third class/beginning of fourth class.

In consultation with other schools who adopt this practice, remixing is an opportunity for all students across the year group to reflect on their individuality and to approach the senior years of their primary schooling with a fresh and collective approach to developing school values: kindness, respect, honesty, self-belief and integrity. For more information on remixing please click the button below.

Consent for Videos and Photographs 25 26

We will be seeking parents' consent to use photos/videos of students on our website and social media platforms. This consent is sought on an annual basis. Consent will be set up as an Aladdin permission and will be released in early June. In accepting permission, parents will automatically agree to adhering to all rules and protocols as stated in our Acceptable Usage Policy.

Intercultural Celebrations

We’re excited to celebrate Intercultural Day on Wednesday 4th June! The day will follow a similar format to last year. Highlights include a parade celebrating the many cultures in St. Brigid’s GNS. Children are welcome to join by wearing traditional clothing or their country’s colours and waving flags.

We will create a new intercultural display. Children with international backgrounds are invited to make a mini “About Me and My Country” poster. All classes will help decorate flags for the display.Throughout the week, we’ll post Instagram reels of students teaching simple phrases in their home languages on the school’s official account. If you have any questions or would like to participate, please complete the Google Form below. .We look forward to a joyful and meaningful celebration for our whole school community!

Sun Protection

We are blessed with fine weather these days and we are taking every advantage to engage in outdoor learning. Please make sure your daughter is wearing suncream coming to school and students are also permitted to wear hats (preferrably bucket hats) for sun protection.

Excellent Events

David - The Kid's Coach

We were delighted to welcome David Nugent, The Kids Coach, to our school, where he worked with Ms. Dempsey’s class. David Nugent is a Dublin-based coach and the founder of The Kids Coach, a service dedicated to providing inclusive physical activities and support for autistic children across Dublin. Follow him on Instagram at @davidnugent_thekidscoach.

The Lighthouse Cinema

Our 5th and 6th Class students took a wonderful trip to the Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield to watch War Horse — a perfect way to deepen their understanding after studying World War I and World War II this year. A big thank you to the Dublin Bus and the Community Spirit Bus for providing us with free transport to and from the cinema.

Children's Ombudsman

Our 6th class students have been invited on a very exciting trip to visit the Office of the Children’s Ombudsman. The Ombudsman for Children is an independent office that works to promote the rights and well-being of all children in Ireland. The visit will give students a chance to learn about their rights, how the Ombudsman helps protect them, and how young voices can help shape policies that affect their lives. The students are very excited for this special opportunity!

BMX Biking

Our 6th class students had an exciting opportunity to take part in a BMX biking event with ‘Fireride’ as part of National Bike Week. The energy and enthusiasm were high as the students tackled a fun and challenging circuit course, developing impressive biking skills along the way. As part of the session, we learned the ABC’s of bike safety — Air, Brakes, and Chain — and discussed the importance of always wearing a helmet to stay safe on the road. It was a fantastic day of learning, fun, and adventure! A huge thank you to Dublin City Council for inviting us to take part in such a brilliant event.

Lunchtime Concert

Our school orchestra and choir would like to extend an invitaiton to all of the grandparents in our school community to come to our lunchtime concert on Tuesday 20th May from 1pm-1.30pm in the school hall. Come have a cup of tea and enjoy the music!

Author's Visit

One of our superstar third class students, Sarah Mai Purcell, wrote to author, Patricia Forde, about how much she loved her book, The Girl Who Fell To Earth. Patricia was so impressed with Sarah's initiative that she responded and said she would come to visit our school to talk about her book and about being an author! How amazing! Well done Sarah! Patricia will visit third class next Wednesday 28th May.

Green Schools Tidy Up

A big well done to our 6th Class students who took great initiative and responsibility by going around the school grounds collecting litter. In total, they gathered an impressive seven bags of rubbish! The students proudly shared photos of their efforts with Green-Schools Ireland, who reminded us that the longer evenings are a perfect opportunity to get outside and help keep our local areas clean. Well done again to 6th Class for setting such a positive example!

Competitors

Cumann na mBunscol Athletics Competition

A selection of students from 4th to 6th Class will be representing our school in the upcoming Cumann na mBunscol Athletics Competition on Monday, 19th May at Morton Stadium, Santry.

The students will be taking part in a range of exciting events including relay races, sprints, long jump, shot put, and high jump. Well done to all the girls for their hard work and dedication in preparing for the event — and best of luck in the competition! We’re very proud of you!

Choir Competitions

A huge congratulations to our wonderful school choir who came second in Feis Ceoil and third in Navan Choral Festival. These competitions see primary school choirs from all over Ireland compete against each other. To be placed in both competitions is a testament to the girls' dedication in showing up in the mornings before school to rehearse. Well done girls and we wish you the best of luck in the AIMS Wexford Choral Festival this Friday!

GAA Finals

A massive congratulations to our senior GAA football team who made it to the finals of the FIngal League (again!). Not our year for the trophy this year but the girls should be so proud of themselves for their committment and hard work in training and for their grace in defeat. A special word of thanks to Mr Kierans, our super coach for his dedication to the team.

We wish our Junior team the very best of luck next Thursday 29th May in St. Anne's Park as they play Belmayne ETNS in the final of the Fingal League.

Fleadh Cheoil

Congratulations to our very talented sixth class student, Danu Ní Bhaoighill, who won the Fleadh Cheoil U12s Harp Competition! What a fantastic achievement Danu! Comhghairdeas!

Creative Arts Week

We will be celebrating Creative School’s Week from 16th-20th of June. As part of the celebrations, we will be taking part in a variety of creative activities such as dance, visual arts, poetry writing, animation, music and more!

We would like to invite any of you who work in The Arts (visual arts, music, drama, television, fashion, dance, theatre, etc.) to visit the school during this week. We would be delighted if you would talk about your job and your involvement in The Arts and/or engage in some activities with the class relating to your work. If you, or another family member would like to visit your daughter’s class (or other classes too!), please email parents@stbrigidsgns.ie at your earliest convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!

Talent Show

As part of Creative Schools Week, we are excited to announce the return of our Talent Show to celebrate the amazing creativity of our students! This is a wonderful opportunity for children to share their unique talents—whether it’s magic tricks, singing, dancing, storytelling, comedy, or playing a musical instrument. All abilities and interests are welcome! We encourage every child to take part and shine in their own way. It’s all about having fun, building confidence, and celebrating the creative spirit in our school community. Acts should be ready to perform for in-class competitions by Monday 16th June, with finalists going forward to our exciting whole-school finale later in the week. Let the talent shine!

Community

Parade for Jack

Students from the senior end of our school will line up on St Brigid's Road on Friday 29th May to support our local Orchard Preschool in their efforts to raise awareness and funds for mobility bikes. Their campaign in collaboration with Variety Ireland to buy a Bike for Jack has been hugely successful and we want to show our support in raising awareness so that maybe another child can get to experience all the physical and mental benefits a trike can offer.
