Head's Welcome

Dear Families and Friends, I hope you have all had a wonderful week. First, a massive congratulations to our Year 11s and Sixth Formers, who have officially finished their public examinations! They have shown immense resilience and dedication over the last few weeks, and we wish them a thoroughly well-deserved rest. As one chapter closes, another begins; our Year 10 students started their mock exams this week, which will continue into next week. They are doing brilliantly so far, tackling the challenge with great maturity. I want to give a special mention to the entire school community. Everyone has been so mindful of our exam signs, keeping the corridors wonderfully quiet. Please do continue to watch out for the signs over the coming days so we can give our Year 10s the calm environment they need to do their very best. This week, we also continued our wonderful visits to our neighbouring seniors' home. These visits are quickly becoming a highlight of our week. It is a fantastic opportunity for our students to practice their communication skills and build social confidence in a real-world setting. The residents absolutely love chatting with them! We have a very busy few weeks ahead of us until the end of term, packed with events, transitions, and summer activities. So please do keep an eye out for updates and reminders. All the best Mrs Rich

What we've been up to

Sports Day

We had yet another amazing Sports Day on Monday at the Weir Archer Fitness Athletics Track. The sun shone for us all afternoon (although there was a bit of a small as well!) where we enjoyed taking part in a range of track and field events, including team relays and the tug-of-war. The enthusiasm was infectious as the students took part in the different events, trying their best at all times and scoring points for their houses. Full results, winners and if any schools records were broken will follow in our last few newsletters of the academic year and our Prizegiving Assembly at the end of term. Well done everyone and a huge thank you to all of the staff, and especially Mr Barnes, for making it such a successful day.

World Cup Activities at Galsworthy House

Year 7 and Sam showed off their football skills this week, as they entertained some of the residents at Galsworthy House Care Home. We did mini competitions, dribbling, keepie uppies, passing and even some hoopla! Staff showed off their skills as well :) We ended with a well deserved snack and delicious hot chocolate! It was a wonderful afternoon and hugely enjoyable for the residents to sit in the sunshine and see the students playing. Well done to you all!

Just Like Us - Pride Month Assembly

Today we enjoyed a wonderful virtual assembly about Pride Month from the charity 'Just Like Us'. Two young ambassadors spoke to us about their LGBT+ story, what the terms within LGBT+ mean and how to be an ally. See the link below to access the Just Like Us website. We also celebrated Pride Month with an own clothes day, where everyone came in whatever they were comfortable in and celebrated being themselves!

Wisley - Year 10 and 6F

Year 10 and 6F had a fantastic trip to Wisley last week - this is such a highlight of the year for us all! After some classroom time and planting, we then had a very relaxing time exploring the grounds and making the most of the good weather. The perfect start to relax us all before the Year 10 Mocks began.

Houses of Parliament - Extra Photos

Mrs Milestone found these extra photos of the Year 9 Houses of Parliament trip, and they are too wonderful not to share!

SEND in the News

Each week we will be shining a spotlight on a different area of SEND that has featured in the news. This week we want to share the Governments  response to its report on the SEND support reform. This was published on 17th June with individual Council responses due on 19th June.
