Representatives from Be SMART have prepared a presentation and are extending an invitation for a conversation concerning children, firearms, and responsible gun storage.
  • The Be SMART framework is strategically designed to empower parents and adults in initiating open dialogues about gun safety. By taking responsible actions, we aim to prevent child gun deaths and injuries. The goal of the presentation is to educate and encourage the secure storage of guns—locked, unloaded, and separate from ammunition.
  • Be SMART and safeguard your family. Join us at this presentation to learn more about how you can help spread awareness and work together to keep all children safe.

Attention 8th Grade Parents -

  • Zionsville Community High School offers honors level courses in English and math as well as early placement in advanced science. These courses provide an opportunity for accelerated, in-depth, rigorous study. Students who are successful in these courses typically demonstrate previous school success, have a strong content background, possess an earnest desire to succeed, and possess effective organizational skills.
  • Placement is determined based upon criteria in the following link: Honors Information. Students who qualify to enroll in these courses will be notified personally via parent email by January 31st. Enrollment is always a parent/student decision, however, and parents/students may choose not to enroll in an accelerated or early placement course. Students who do not receive notice of qualification to enroll by January 31st may request a form from their middle school guidance counselor to complete and submit to high school department chairs for review of their placement qualifications. The deadline for the review submission is February 16th.
  • If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact your ZWMS grade level school counselor.
  • Mr. Winger (8th grade counselor) will be meeting with all 8th graders during their regularly scheduled math period on Monday (1/22) & Tuesday (1/23). He will be communicating with students via Canvas regarding the 9th Grade Course Request process.
  • **ZWMS counselors will deliver course request instructions to all current 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in the upcoming weeks. Please look for counselor communication via Canvas. Please reach out to your student’s grade level counselor if you have specific questions.**

Future ZCHS students and families, the registration window for high school courses opens January 22 and closes February 9. Students will register using PowerSchool. Middle school counselors will answer student questions and assist students with the registration process during this window.

THIS LINK leads to the high school web site and will take you to a presentation that walks you through the course selection process. We encourage you to watch this presentation.

Mr. West and Mrs. Gordon met with each grade level to kick off Quarter 3. During these meetings, they shared reminders about hallway procedures, cell phones, tardy policy, and coats for colder weather.

  • Phones, watches, and earbuds need to be unseen/heard during instructional time. Students were reminded to focus on their learning during class.
  • Students will go outside for recess if the temperature is above 15 degrees. We reminded them of the importance of being prepared with coats and cold weather gear for this breath of fresh air.
  • In addition, we revisited our statement of practice ‘Everyone Belongs Here’ and highlighted the area about how hate has no place in ZCS. We specifically addressed the need to ensure we are not making negative comments or jokes regarding identity. We want to ensure we are living our statement of Everyone Belongs Here.
