Breakfast at our guesthouse was a little on the lean side, so we found a little cafe 7km down the road that served the local campground patrons and passing pilgrims so we were able to score a typical yummy Spanish breakfast of freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee and a slice of tortillas filled with ham and gooey cheese!
Again we had some road walking, but mostly rural countryside. The weather was cooler and it drizzled on and off all day. Most of the rain had fallen over night, so we did encounter one of our only climbs for the day as a muddy slippery and boggy obstacle course that slowed us down and covered our shoes in mud cakes.
By mid afternoon we stopped for a late lunch stop, before farewelling our Amigos and wished them well for their epic 35km journey! We can report that all went well for them and we’ll tackle the last 10km tomorrow and rejoin them on their rest day in Laredo.
In the meantime, we spent the rest of the afternoon soaking in a hot bath followed by a late dinner sitting out in the town square as the sun was setting enjoying a jug of sangria along with the cafe specialty of a burger with the lot. We finished off the meal with a super delicious carrot cake - wish we’d ordered one each!Intro to todays Blog
