When we first arrived, we explored the museum by completing a scavenger hunt! There was so much to do and see!
Before lunch, the class completed a workshop all about the hidden lives of people in Ancient Greece. This focused on the women and children. The class got to look at lots of different sources, including some artefact from the period!
We finished the day by completing more activities in the prehistoric and Ancient Greek exhibit. These are both topics we have previously studied so it was great to refresh our memories and see artefacts from these periods.
Ancient Greece: Art and History
The following day, we used what we had learnt from our trip to create a timeline of Ancient Greece. It was around 2000 years!
As part of our English use and apply session, we created a fact file about an Ancient Greek god or goddess! We focused on the 12 gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus.
Next, the pairs were each given their own jigsaw to complete. These formed an artefact from Ancient Greece based off one of the gods and goddesses. We then had to use our historical knowledge to decide which gods or goddess it was supposed to be.
Based on the real artefacts from the museum, and the images of artefacts from our history lesson, the class designed their own Greek vase! First, they drew different designs and patterns in their sketch book. After, they drew a simple design and image on an outline of a blank vase.
PSHE: Assemblies
On Thursday, we had two important assemblies. The first was about internet safety; including how to stay safe online and what to do if we ever do feel uncomfortable.
The second assembly was from Dogs Trust about how to stay safe around dogs and what is best for both dog and human!
Science club!
This week at science club we were learning all about bees! We started off by measuring our different rhubarb plants again. After, we learnt about how bees communicated by leaning and moving their wings. The group then had to try mimic this and find the St John’s flower! We then used the Beebot to input instructions and get from the hive to the different flowers.
