Time for a Savior Advent 2: Time for Song!

Welcome

What time is it? It's Advent! It's time for a Savior! It's time for SONG!

Join us these days of Advent as we wait for Jesus, our Savior, and prepare for His coming. He gives us reasons to sing praise every day!

Lighting of the Advent Wreath

The Advent wreath helps us count up to Christmas. You can make one or purchase one. Each week a candle is lit until Jesus' birthday is here. He is the light the world, the one we celebrate and anticipate. The second week of Advent we light the blue or purple PEACE candle.

You can go on Pinterest for many more craft ideas!

There are many wax candle options with a simple search.

Light one candle for PEACE! When have you felt PEACE this week?

Sing and have PEACE

Let's sing and prepare our hearts for Jesus' coming!

Scripture

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

God's people had waited a very long time for the Savior to come! When Mary heard she would have Jesus (see Luke 1), she sang. When the angels announced Jesus' birth, they sang. The Prince of Peace's coming is news to sing about.

Talk

When do you feel like singing? What's your favorite song? Why do you think so many people in the Bible sang about Jesus coming?

Engage with the Story

Sing Christmas Carols together as a family or surprise a friend or family member by Christmas Carolling.

Pray + Bless

Jesus, You give us reason to sing praise! Thank you for being the Prince of Peace. You rule and reign. Take away our worries and calm our hearts. Amen.

Lay hands on each other as a family and say: "Jesus is our SONG. He gives His people PEACE.”
