Anthony McGill and Comedian Kimberly Clark Bring Comedy and Music Together in Touring Collaborative Performance
Anthony and comedian Kimberly Clark will be touring with a dynamic performance mixing comedy, conversation, and music. A self-proclaimed band kid and amateur clarinetist, Kimberly connected with the classical music world last year when she included a segment about Gustav Dudamel as part of her Netflix special. Anthony and Kimberly offer a duo performance that includes conversations between the two of them including stories of their growing up as band kids, the similarities between performing stand up and a clarinet solo, and Anthony performing solo musical selections. Kimberly included some of her band stories on her appearance on The Late Late Show.
Hailed for his “trademark brilliance, penetrating sound and rich character” (The New York Times), clarinetist Anthony McGill is one of classical music’s most recognizable and brilliantly multifaceted figures. In addition to his dynamic international solo and chamber music career, McGill is principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic—the first African-American principal player in the organization's history.
Originally from Syracuse, New York, Kimberly Clark is highly regarded on the LA comedy scene for her unassuming style and biting wit. It’s a potent combination that makes her a favorite among comedians and audiences alike. She uses dry humor and her captivating presence to train a precision lens on pop culture, politics, personal experiences, and the absurdity of everyday life.
