This Week at Evergreen

A healthy tree requires good roots. The same is true for churches. At Evergreen, the root system that keeps us flourishing is captured in the acronym ARTS. Authenticity, Recovery, Text, and Service surrounded in the context of community and prayer. These are our roots. In this series, we give them the attention they require. And with God's help, we will flourish.

Title: The Hands and Feet of Jesus

Artist: Judy Jacques

For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Artist's Statement: As we gather at EGM, we have the opportunity to learn the ways of Jesus. We follow Him by sharing love, grace, and forgiveness. We welcome and pray for one another. We celebrate the big and small steps of recovery. Jesus equips us with His Holy Spirit which guides and points the way for us to bring His blessings into the world.

  • "The Church has left the building and gone into the world
  • The hands and feet of Jesus, his living, breathing word
  • The Church has left the building, for all the world to see
  • The Church has left the building: the Church is you and me."

Congregational Meeting

If you are a full professing member of Evergreen, please join us on Sunday, May 19 after the morning service for a brief congregational meeting. At this meeting there will be discussion and a vote to approve the budget for the 24/25 fiscal year. Absentee ballots are available in the courtyard at the Welcome Center and will be accepted until the end of the congregational meeting on May 19. Click the button below to see the proposed budget.

Evergreen Meal Train

Would you like to help provide meals for those in the midst of life's trials (upcoming birth, surgery, stubbed toe, death in the family, etc.)? If so, please contact your pastoral care elder or Matt VanWoerkom (vanwoerkom.m@gmail.com). When a need arises, this group will be invited to provide assistance. If you are ever in need of meals, please reach out to your pastoral care elder so that they are aware and can organize a meal train.

Part Time Custodian Position

Evergreen is seeking applications for a part time custodian. There will be an interviewing process for those interested. Contact Denny DeHaan (hondohunts@gmail.com) or John VanderLoo (johnvan3@yahoo.com) if you are interested or with any questions you may have about this position.

Arts Camp 2024

Registration for Arts Camp 2024, "Under the Sea - the Jonah Experience," will open on Monday, June 3. Watch the bulletin and courtyard for signing up as a helper/color group leader or to help with donations for camp. We are also still looking for a wood working teacher. If you enjoy working with wood, tools, and kids email Chris (chris@egm.org) for more information or to volunteer.

We are also looking for an old, beat up boat that can be used for part of the set/decorations for arts camp. The more beat up and un-sea worthy the better! If you have something we can borrow, please email David (david@egm.org).

Giving at Evergreen

You can find ways to give to Evergreen in a variety of ways. As you consider your giving, know that, as always, all tithes and offerings go to support our youth ministries (birth-12th grade), recovery, the arts (music, drama, visual arts, dance), multiple outreaches, and many more ministries. If you are interested in giving to the work we are doing, you can do so by clicking the link below.

4 Corners Offering

This month, our corners offering partner is Mel Trotter Ministries. They exist to demonstrate the compassion of Jesus Christ toward anyone experiencing homelessness and hunger. They provide guests with warm meals and safety inside a dignified space so they can receive care and resources to overcome homelessness. The Prevention and Diversion team provides support before anyone enters homelessness. Their workforce development programs are offered to individuals seeking to learn technical skills as well as the soft skills needed to get a job and keep it.
