SANKOFA WETLAND PARK & NATURE TRAIL
Due to weather, Bayou Fest has been rescheduled to SATURDAY, JUNE 6TH. While we’re disappointed to delay, we’re looking forward to welcoming you for an even better day at the Sankofa Wetland Park & Nature Trail. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We can’t wait to see you there!
Join us for a vibrant day of environmental education and outdoor recreation, featuring horseback riding, kayaking, STEM activities, fishing, birdwatching, and food vendors. This annual community celebration honors the unique nature-based spaces of New Orleans and the coastal wetlands of Southeast Louisiana.
At Sankofa CDC, we uplift healthy environments through mission-aligned partnerships and community-driven work. We believe the people closest to the challenges are closest to the solutions. Led by Founder and Executive Director Rashida Ferdinand, our work is rooted in the Lower Ninth Ward and shaped by the community we serve. Our name is adopted from the Akan peoples of Ghana and Sierra Leone, honoring our history while building our future.
