This annual community celebration honors the unique nature-based spaces of New Orleans and the coastal wetlands of Southeast Louisiana.

At Sankofa CDC, we uplift healthy environments through mission-aligned partnerships and community-driven work. We believe the people closest to the challenges are closest to the solutions. Led by Founder and Executive Director Rashida Ferdinand, our work is rooted in the Lower Ninth Ward and shaped by the community we serve. Our name is adopted from the Akan peoples of Ghana and Sierra Leone, honoring our history while building our future.
