Washington d.c. in december A day trip with Clare

Downtown DC

I went with my friend Namia and her girlfriend to spend the whole day in DC for some Christmas spirit.(Me third wheeling lol) I had been seeing a lot of holiday pop-up restaurants and shops on social media was really excited to experience the city decked out in holiday decorations and lights. We went to the downtown Christmas Market, took hundreds of pictures of giant Christmas trees in hotels or on the street and made our way to the National Harbor Boat show.

A few of the hundreds of x-mas trees in the city.

Union Station

We arrived at Union Station around 11 am and were in awe by this tree that was in the center of the main entrance. This was my first time at Union Station and was surprised by how gorgeous and elaborate the inside of train station looks. It reminds me of a fancy art gallery.

Lunch at Via Sophia

We hadn't eaten yet and my friends were starting to get hangry. We found this really nice Italian Restaurant where we each ordered some pasta dish. It was extremely cozy inside and a nice break from the harsh cold outside that we had been walking for about an hour in.

We went to the Downtown DC Christmas Market to walk around and take pictures of the beautiful lights and stands. It was almost impossible to get a clear shot of this golden star without at least 10 tourists standing around it. This was the best picture I got of it.

Food stands

Although we didn't eat any snacks at the market, I appreciated the colorful signs for each stand to catch people's attention in the busy crowd.

Snowman mural

Another attraction that was hard to photograph was this mural of a snowman with some trees in the background.

It was worth the crowd to walk through the Christmas Market that was completely decked out in lights. I definitely felt the holiday spirit after visiting.

Holiday pop-ups

This restaurant was heavily promoted on social media for their holiday pop up. They definitely committed to the Christmas vibe by transforming the entire first floor into a holiday wonderland. With the green lights and decorations, you felt like you were invading the Grinch's lair.
