Supporting Financial Aid
The Class of 2004 Memorial Scholarship Endowed Fund will help Deerfield continue to attract and support young people of promise from across the nation and around the world, so they may engage in the full Deerfield Experience we remember so well—including scholarship, sportsmanship, leadership, and community service.
“Deerfield’s commitment to affordability and access in the form of need-based financial aid is historic, deep, and central to its educational mission. It is founded on the idea—beautifully articulated over a century ago when Frank L. Boyden asked families to ‘pay what you can’—that the Deerfield Experience should be accessible to all young people of promise regardless of means.” - Head of School Dr. John Austin
While we feel that a Deerfield education is in many ways priceless, annual tuition is a significant—if not insurmountable—challenge for many families. To date, we’ve raised over $500K in gifts and pledges. Looking ahead, our goal is to raise $1.8M by our 25th Reunion to establish a permanent endowed fund, the income from which could aid in supporting the cost of one student's tuition on an annual basis.
“The opportunity to attend Deerfield has been life changing, in more ways than one. And not just for my son and I, but for all those who know him. His journey has brought newfound hope, has shone light on new perspectives, and has prompted a greater desire to succeed in all of us who have witnessed it. He has become somewhat of a role model in our town, even a local celebrity! Of course, it hasn’t been without his own hard work and dedication, but it certainly wouldn’t have been possible without the generous financial aid we received from Deerfield.” - Parent, Class of 2022
In future years, we aim to exceed this amount, so that the scholarship can benefit multiple students each academic year. Support from the Class of 2004 in memory of our classmates and their impact on Deerfield, will have a lasting influence on future students.
“As a first-generation college student, without the help of financial aid at Deerfield, I would not have been able to afford to get this prestigious education. I have had the opportunity to not only find myself and my independence, but find my place in the world around me. I strongly believe that there are many students like me around the world that have the passion, determination, and independence to make the leap to boarding school, but financial situations are holding them back. I cannot say thank you enough to those who have donated to support financial aid for students like me.” - Student, Class of 2024
We hope you will join us in this meaningful effort. Thank you for your consideration.
