CAN YOU HELP?
Parents, carers and other family members can make some of the most valuable contributions to a school, which is why we need your help! We would love some volunteers to help out in school, in any way they can but particularly in the classroom.
We understand that people have many demands on their time, so any help you can give would be much appreciated. We can work around your commitments. Helping in school can be really fun and rewarding, as well as an opportunity to pass on your experience and learn new skills too!

UNIFORM REMINDER
We have observed a number of children coming to school in incorrect uniform or PE kit recently. Please can we remind you of our uniform policy, which you can read in full here.
In summary, the Parkside uniform consists of the following:
- Royal blue top
- Blue or white shirt or polo shirt.
- Grey or dark trousers or skirt.
- Tights or socks
- Sensible shoes (no heels)
Children should come to school dressed in their PE kit on their designated PE days. They need appropriately labelled PE kit consisting of the following:
- Navy plain sweatshirt (round neck)
- Navy or black joggers
- Navy or black shorts
- Plain white or navy t-shirt (without collar)
Or alternatively there is now also the option of Parkside branded items, as chosen by the School Council.
Whether you opt for the Parkside PE items or just plain ones, please note that any other logos or hoodies are strictly not permitted. If a child does not have their P.E. kit they will miss P.E. lessons and a letter will be sent home.
Long hair must be tied back during PE - this applies to both boys and girls.
Jewellery should not be worn or brought into school. If pupils have pierced ears, ONE pair of discreet studs may be worn. Earrings must be removed for PE. If your child is unable to remove earrings or piercings themselves, they should not come into school wearing them on PE days.

SPOTLIGHT ON ATTENDANCE 🔦
Please see below for the attendance data for the first weeks of this half term. The overall school attendance was better in the first week back than it has been recently, but then dropped again in the second week. Let's try and get it back up again in the next few weeks. There's lots going on in school this term which children will not want to miss!
From the first day of term to the last, the small moments in a school day make a real difference to your child. #AttendanceCounts
The Department of Education has advice on improving attendance - click here to view.
School Attendance is ‘everyone’s business’.
What an absence means for your child?
At primary school level, where pupils missing up to 14 days of school in key stage two are a quarter less likely to achieve level five or above in reading, writing or maths tests than those with no absence.
If you have any concerns regarding attendance please do not hesitate to contact Miss Curley, our Safeguarding and Attendance officer here at Parkside Primary School.
