Executive Director's Update

We are Endeavor Health!

Since Edward-Elmhurst Health, NorthShore, Swedish Hospital and Northwest Community Healthcare came together to form NorthShore – Edward-Elmhurst Health, we have created new mission, vision and values statements that capture what we stand for and aspire to achieve. Now, we’re taking the next step in our evolution as a premier healthcare system by introducing our new, unified name and brand: Endeavor Health.

The new name signifies our commitment – our Endeavor - to set a new standard of healthcare, one that delivers a truly personal patient experience combined with seamless access to pioneering, world-class care. Patients will continue to receive the expert care and high-quality services they do today, delivered by the providers they know and trust, while benefiting from broader access to specialties and sub-specialties, conveniently connected throughout the system.

While the overall system brand name is changing, our commitment to community-connected care is stronger than ever before. Here’s what’s not changing:

  • Our local hospital name, Edward Hospital, will remain the same under Endeavor Health, and our Foundation name will remain Edward Foundation.
  • Our physicians and researchers will continue to conduct leading-edge research to advance medicine and transform healthcare delivery.
  • We’ll continue to train the healthcare leaders of tomorrow – and we’ll continue to provide critical patient programs to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.

What’s more, your philanthropic support for Edward Hospital, Linden Oaks Behavioral Health, and the clinicians at these locations you choose to honor will stay here in your community. It is our duty to ensure that your gifts and intent as a donor are fulfilled and properly stewarded.

We look forward to this new chapter as a unified health system under Endeavor Health, and we’re pleased to preserve the legacy of Edward Hospital as a provider born in, based in, and closely tied to our service community.

Edward Foundation awards funding throughout Edward and Linden Oaks to benefit patients and staff

New Emergency Department CT scanner means faster treatment for stroke patients

When it comes to stroke diagnosis and treatment, every second counts. Thanks to contributions from community donors and event proceeds secured by Edward Foundation, Endeavor Health Edward Hospital’s Emergency Department now houses a brand-new stroke CT unit. Ryan Garland, Assistant Vice President of Radiology/Imaging and Respiratory for Endeavor Health Edward Hospital highlighted key benefits of the new imaging equipment. “It helps prevent delays. Before we had one set of resources serving inpatient, outpatient, and ER needs. Now we’ve got a dedicated ER unit located adjacent to the department. This eliminates delays in transporting emergency patients across campus and avoids instances where the CT unit is already in use for a scheduled procedure.” Patients presenting to the Emergency Department with stroke symptoms now have immediate access to imaging – decreasing time-to-treatment and potential brain injury. Effects of stroke range from physical, emotional, cognitive, and communicative, but quick treatment can save brain cells, and lives.
