Fernando Picon is one of Uruguay’s most established and internationally active electronic artists, with a career spanning over three decades and a consistent presence across South America, the United States, and Europe. In 2024 and 2025, he was invited to perform at the prestigious Pandora series by DJ Oliver at Lío Ibiza — one of the island’s most exclusive and globally recognized venues — and at Experimental Beach in Las Salinas, further consolidating his international profile within one of the world’s most competitive electronic circuits.
A key figure in Uruguay’s electronic movement since the early ’90s, Fernando began his musical journey as a drummer and percussionist specializing in jazz, later playing in rock bands before naturally transitioning into DJing and production. Since 1991, he has held residencies at underground venues such as Espejismo, Metropolis, La Locomotive, and Milenio, later expanding to major clubs and lifestyle venues including Lotus Club, OVO, Piso 40, Radisson, Otro Planeta, W Lounge, Purple, Plaza Mateo, Bagatelle, and Tequila (Punta del Este), among many others.
He has been a recurring presence in key destinations such as Punta del Este and José Ignacio, performing at high-profile venues including Serena, La Susana, Imarangatú, Arenas and Soto Bosque, as well as the renowned Café Misterio and Space parties. His sets are defined by refined musical curation, deep groove sensibility and the ability to navigate seamlessly from sunset atmospheres to peak-time dancefloor intensity.
Fernando has performed at major festivals including Creamfields (Uruguay 2017, Punta del Este 2008, Buenos Aires 2006–2007), PESF, SAMC, East Festival, Open Park, Move On Fest, Luminocity by Miller, Antel Fest and Lima Fest. Internationally, he has played in New York at Spice Market in the Meatpacking District and in Miami at venues such as Segafredo (Lincoln Road) and Café Milano (Ocean Drive).
Throughout his career, he has shared stages with global icons such as Tiësto, David Guetta, Black Coffee, Paul Oakenfold, Richie Hawtin, Hernán Cattáneo, Ricardo Villalobos and Roger Sanchez, among many others, reinforcing his position within the global electronic landscape.
As a producer, Fernando has developed a distinctive sonic identity that bridges contemporary electronic music with cult national rock influences, combining groove-driven structures with emotional depth and musical storytelling. His work has been critically recognized with five Premios Graffiti, including Best Electronic Music Album for Singularidad (2023), Echoes (2021), and Ground Level (2012), Best Electronic Single (2019), and Best Remix for “Estrellas” by Les Enfants (2012).
Beyond his artistic career, Fernando plays an active role in shaping the regional scene. He co-manages Surbeats Records alongside Martín Panizza, supporting emerging and established artists within the electronic spectrum. He is also co-founder and CEO of Groove Beats Academy, a DJ and music production academy that operates as an educational platform and event production company.
