HWB app

The HWB is where you will always go to, for all your day-to-day access for your studies. You can get access to this through your phone and laptop/computer

While in the HWB you can access your course material through "Moodle", your student emails through "Mail", starting your essays on "Office365" and your online storage "OneDrive"

When you go into your class always get onto the HWB on your laptop

LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning, its like YouTube for education and learning. You can enhance your skills in IT, CV skills, cybersecurity, and so much more.

JISC Discovery Tool

If you are struggling with IT skills, and don't know where to get started, then follow the link below to the Discovery tool. It takes 20 mins to complete, and you get a report back that will give you step by step guides on what to do next to help improve your skills.

Microsoft Office 365

Microsoft Office 365 is Free for all students, and you should use this to start and complete all your work while you study with us.

You can access Microsoft Office 365 at any time and on any device, all you have to do is get onto the HWB.

All your work will be saved and can be easily found.

This is Microsoft Word, where you can start your essays

Here are some useful shortcuts to make life easier

Hold down CTRL then tap A - selects all words. Hold down CTRL then tap C - copy's selected words. Hold down CTRL then tap V - paste any selected words. Hold down CTRL then tap Z to undo anythign you just typed.

Here is Microsoft PowerPoint, this is where you can create posters and presentations

In any Microsoft Office 365 app you can share content with colleagues and lecturers.

This is Microsoft Excel, here you can create graphs, charts and do mathematical sums.

This is Microsoft OneDrive, where you can save your work and upload all your work. It gets saved and you can have access at any time and place.

It is best to save your work on your student Univiersity OneDrive, as it saves in one place and also easier for submission of your work on Turnitin.

This is Microsoft Outlook, but just remember it as your student email. We as a university and staff will only contact you through your student email, so please do keep an eye on it.

You are ready to start learning and opening up new ideas and paths for your future.

Moodle

All your course material like, the presentation from class, any extra reading, links to useful sites, reading lists, your assignment, and your submission links can all be found in Moodle

Laptops

We do have laptops on campus if you don't have your own however, they get used up quick and you may not get one on the day.

Best thing to do is to follow the link below to go to our university bursary page where we can support you with purchasing your own laptop. (up to £300) you need to go to "Financial Support Bursaries" then find "Digital connectivity bursary" You will need to go through the Hwb and go through to the financial bursaries
