MARCH IN NEW FAIRFIELDVOLUME 3, ISSUE 3 || MARCH 2024
It remains to be seen if March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. But... warm weather is just around the corner and we eagerly anticipate the beautiful flowers, melodic songs of the birds and sunshine and surrounding greenery.
March also marks the second anniversary of this New Fairfield Newsletter. Thank you for all of your compliments over the two years and continued loyalty. If there is any other type of information you would also like to see included that would be beneficial and of interest to you, we welcome your thoughts and comments.

Spring Begins Tuesday, March 19, 2024
March 19 is the Vernal Equinox, (equinox means equal night in Latin) where the Northern and Southern hemispheres receive the same amount of sunlight and the length of the day and night is mostly the same. Until the Summer Solstice in June, the amount of daylight in each day will continue to increase.

Daylight Savings Time
Daylight savings time begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2024. The time change means an "extra hour of light" in the evening, but that also means slightly darker mornings. Remember to turn your clocks ahead at 2:00 a.m. We will lose an hour but gain more light in the evenings.

Military Hero Banners
Please send your request for the banner in by April 29th to be displayed for Memorial Day.
New Fairfield is so very proud of all of the men and women who serve or have served in the military. We are currently taking orders for Military Hometown Hero Banners to honor and recognize hometown Veterans and active duty members of the United States Armed Forces. If you are interested in purchasing a Hero Banner to be displayed in the center of Town annually from Memorial Day through Veterans Day, please submit an application before April 29th. After that date, requests will be accepted on a year-round basis and banners will be printed when the required minimum quantity is reached.
Banners will display the official military photo of the service person, as well as their name and branch of the United States Armed Forces. We are asking sponsors to contribute $40 toward the cost of each banner. To qualify for the Military Banner Program, the honoree must be a Veteran or currently serving as an active duty member of the United States Armed Forces, and he or she must currently reside in New Fairfield or have an immediate family member residing in New Fairfield (parent, spouse, sibling, son or daughter).
You can complete the form and pay online for a banner, and then email or send in your picture-you can find the form on newfairfield.org, under the Selectmen's Office heading or click below:
You can also print the form or request a form from the Selelctman's office and send it in or bring it to Town Hall. Digital photos, if available, provide the highest quality banner.
