What is Cru?

Cru is a community where the Gospel captures hearts, transforms lives, and launches men and women into a lifelong adventure with Jesus Christ! We want to see a movement at Virginia Tech where every student, faculty, cadet, and athlete knows someone who truly follows Jesus.

Why me?

Through being involved with Cru since 2018 as both a student and as staff, God has given me a vision for reaching the lost with the Gospel through reaching college students. He used college ministry in a huge way in my personal walk with the Lord so I understand how meaningful it can be for others in their walk with Jesus. The vision Bill Bright had when he started Cru to “Reach the campus today, reach the world tomorrow” has always been so compelling to me. The college campus is a very strategic space to begin to reach the world with the Gospel!

Why Campus Ministry?

According to a 2018 Barna study, 70% of high school students who enter college as professing Christians will leave with little to no faith. Additionally, just 4% of Gen-Z as a whole, not just students, possess a Biblical worldview.

However, God is at work! Gen-Z is more open than ever before to spiritual things, religion, and especially considering Christianity. In fact, according to the Wall Street Journal, Bible sales were up 22% in the US through the end of October 2024, compared with the same period the previous year. By contrast, TOTAL US print book sales were up less than 1% in that period.

God is on the move and I am so excited to be a part of what he is doing in and through this generation, starting on the college campus and going out to the world from there!
