CTE Newsletter Feburary 2024

Carpentry

In the month of February, 15 students went to the Night with Industry. They promoted the CTE Construction class and also networked to get contact info from the union. Night with Industry, the kids prepared themselves for this event and they were giving out their resume for this event to soon go into the Construction industry. While they were doing this they were thrilled. Yes they were nervous but once they all had it down they were ready. To keep up with this journey. Digital Media

Digital Media I students were able begin their first production in their film productions unit. Students were tasked with replicating a scene shoot for shoot and editing it together using Adobe Premiere Pro.

Digital Media II students also continue to expand their skills, and are still working on their journalism unit. These students collaborated with Ceramics students to tell photo stories.

Digital Media II students also had the opportunity to perform a mock interview with members from the Hemet Valley Art Association. The top 5 candidates will be selected and move on to a district-wide mock interview contest.

Sports Medicine

Level ones covered the respiratory system and how that system is in charge of gas exchanges between oxygen and carbon dioxide.

As well as a lab activity which tests each student's vital capacity which is the maximum amount of air moved in and out of the lungs.

Level twos covered injuries at the elbow, hand, and wrist. This involved how to identify and treat each injury that commonly occurs in sports

Entrepreneurship

Year one classes continued working on their Business Plans which they will have wrapped up by the end of the month. For the Year two classes they continued with some 3D printing, then moved onto their business cards as well as finishing both the Google Doc and Sheet overviews. These lessons on Google Docs & Sheets are to expand their knowledge on usage and benefits of these two products and how they will be beneficial in their future college or career endeavors.

Four of our Entrepreneurship students who entered the SkillsUSA contest have made it to the second round. They will be competing in Ontario to present their business plan.
