FROM THE Principal’s Desk

Dear Bluejay Family,

Teaching is not an easy profession. The faculty and staff at St. Cecilia pour a tremendous amount of creativity, time, and energy into crafting engaging lessons that will help your children grow in faith and reason. Witnessing the fruits of those efforts truly is a great reward, and it is the one that makes all the toil worth it.

While you make them feel loved year-round, Teacher Appreciation Week is always a special treat. This past week was filled with amazing surprises spearheaded by our amazing PTC. I am filled with gratitude for the love and support shown to our faculty and staff as we kick off the last month of the school year. I would just like to say thank you to all who gave of their time, talent, and treasure to show they truly treasure our teachers.

Grace & Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

“Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.”

Dear Bluejay Family,

We are the champions! The SCS 5/6th Grade Girls Track Team are your Division II Champions. They won in dominating fashion this week at the championship meet at Teurlings. The 7/8th Grade Boys were named runner up in their Division. They fought hard, but came up short against Sts. Leo Seton. Tennis was in action this week on Tuesday against Ascension. Swimming competed in their last regular season meet of the year on Wednesday. Golf got rained out in their final regular season set of matches on Thursday. We now turn our eyes to championship week for golf, tennis, and swimming. We wish all of the coaches and players the best of luck as they represent SCS. Registration is still open for volleyball, cross country, and football for the fall for upcoming 5th through 8th graders. We will host our student athletes and guests this week in the annual SCS Athletic Banquet.

Registration is ongoing for our fall sports for next year for 5th through 8th grade. Tryouts for volleyball for 7th and 8th grade are set for Tuesday, May 14th for 8th grade and Wednesday, May 15th for 7th grade.

We are happy to have a wrestling coach as part of our Bluejay Family. Coach Kerry Boumans is the wrestling coach at STM. He will be hosting a camp for our 2nd through 12th graders at STM. I can personally attest to the benefits of wrestling as it lends strengths to other sports. Coach Kerry is a fantastic coach and ambassador for the sport. We are happy to have him as one of ours. Please see the flier below for more information.

Our St. Cecilia Tennis Team once again had an impressive victory on Tuesday against Ascension. We played 19 matches total and the Bluejays were dominant with a 14-5 victory! This team continues to excel being led by the twelve 8th graders that will represent The Bluejays at the end of the year tournament next Wednesday and Thursday. Our 2024 Blue Jay Tennis team is undefeated on the season and is definitely one of the strong teams to look out for next week!! Many of these select twelve have been playing tennis for the past four years and we're excited for our chances next week!! A big congratulations goes out to our outstanding student athletes selected for the tournament to represent St. Cecilia. Good luck next week to our boys: Seth Gallagher, Nicholas Soprano, Henry Lorio, Walker Montz, Landon Bertrand and Lucas Bourgeois and our girls: Ahna Dubroc, Heidi Derge, Anna Luneau, Lilah Boudreaux, Addison Spears and Isabella Prince. Come cheer these kids on next week to what should be some great competition!

Our swim team competed in the final meet of their regular season on Wednesday. Once again, the Bluejays did not disappoint! They are led by a group of younger swimmers that show promise as they continue to compete with the larger schools and teams. We will definitely be hearing some of these names in the high school swim circuit. Best of luck to our swimming Bluejays this week!

As mentioned above, our 5/6th grade girls track team are the champions, and the 7/8th grade boys are the runner up in their respective divisions. The coaches explained to the kids that it is not about trophies or banners. It is about experiencing something new and giving it all you have. Almost the entire team did events this year that they had never done. It was the coaches philosophy to expose them to something different with the hopes that it may give them another avenue for sports. That was the true success of the track season, as we build on the successes and experiences and look to the next year. The coaches are beyond proud of the kids and support that the parents have shown with the largest track team ever fielded at SCS. Special thanks go to coaches Dustin Arnaud, Scott Boudreaux, Anthony McAtee, Jason Maynard, Brittany Broussard, Chris Gilmore, Ross Stevens, and Wade Boudreaux. We would also like to thank Melanie Morgan for the record-keeping and clerical duties she performed this year! Congratulations to the 5/6th Grade Girls Champions of Division II Track and Field:

In an effort to improve our athletic programs at St. Cecilia, it was felt that a comprehensive athletic handbook was needed. This handbook affects players, coaches, parents, and fans. Parent/guardian completion of this form and adherence to the rules and regulations outlined in the handbook are requirements for participation in athletic programs at St. Cecilia School. The link below will take you to the handbook. It is also on the school website for reference as well. Thank you all for your continued support of SCS Athletics.

For those that have already completed the acknowledgement form, and want to refresh themselves on the rules and regulations, please follow the link below.

****We are so proud of our SCS 7/8th Grade football, 5th Grade White and 7th Grade volleyball teams' fantastic accomplishments this fall. We can now officially celebrate our championships in volleyball and football by purchasing apparel from Action Specialties. These are school approved and can be worn as part of the school uniform. There is a tab on the top horizontal bar for championship apparel. Thanks again for your support of SCS Athletics!
