Dear Friends,
As the year comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment and express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and generosity toward Children’s Beach House. Your commitment has made a significant impact on the lives of the children, families, and communities we serve, and for that, we are incredibly grateful.
At Children’s Beach House we firmly believe in the power or relationships and their transformative effect on the lives of youth. We have witnessed first hand how nurturing and positive connections can shape their futures, providing them with guidance, support, and the opportunities they need to thrive. It is through these relationships that we are able to empower people to overcome their challenges, unlock their potential, and build bright futures.
However, it is important to recognize that the value of relationships extends beyond the direct impact on the youth we serve. It also encompasses the relationships we have with our incredible donors, like you. Your belief in our mission and your continued support have allowed us to expand our programs, reach more young people, and make a lasting difference in their lives. Your support has motivated us to work harder, dream bigger and strive for excellence in everything we do. Your belief in relationships has reinforced our commitment to fostering meaningful connections with our youth, or community, and our donors. Your generosity has had a rippling effect that will continue to touch the lives of those we serve.
On behalf of the entire team of Children’s Beach House, I want to wish you and your loved ones a joyous holiday season filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. May the spirit of giving and the warmth of relationships surround you for the coming year.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Rich Garrett
CBH’s New Outdoor Classroom is a HUGE Hit!
After months of planning, and thanks to a Let’s Go Outside Outdoor grant from the Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood (DIEEC), the new outdoor classroom at CBH’s Margaret H. Rollins Child Development Center is a reality. And a huge hit! The three- and four-year-olds at the Rollins Center have taken to the mud kitchen, digging area, rowboat garden, music area, worktable, easels, and blocks like, well, like kids drawn to mud, digging, gardening, music, art, and blocks!
CBH's Family Holiday Party
Families from our Youth Development Program and Child Development Center came together to see Santa, enjoy Chef Paula’s holiday feast, decorate cookies, make crafts, and play games at the Family Holiday Party! Thank you to G. Fedale Roofing and Siding for supporting our families and for asking Santa to come! They’re also keeping an eye on The Grinch who has been sneaking around the building playing pranks and trying to steal cookies. And it’s so sweet: the kids kept giving The Grinch little presents and stickers trying to revive his holiday spirit ❤️
CBH’s Annual Holiday Party Delivers Many Wonders
As always, CBH’s annual holiday fund raiser, Winter Wonder, lived up to its name. Our Lewes building’s exterior truly was a wonder, with hundreds of holiday lights welcoming guests. The interior was even more festive. Echoing the “Masquerade” theme, several Christmas trees were decorated with decorative masks, while the dining room was festooned with lights and enormous ornaments. In the large event tent, which was pitched on the beach, red poinsettias and enormous red presents stood out against the black and white décor. There, partygoers danced and bid on amazing items and experiences during the night’s silent and live auctions.
Adding to the wonder were performance artists who swung from a tripod in the Beach House living room while pouring champagne for the arriving guests. Through multiple changes of costume, the artists continued to dazzle guests with performances that included juggling lighted bowling pins, dazzling with lighted hoops, juggling fire, and spinning flaming hoops. Winter Wonder indeed!
Perhaps the most wonderous part of Winter Wonder, though, were the guests. Several donned one-of-a-kind holiday outfits, glittering jackets, and flowing dresses. Even more embraced the masquerade theme with gorgeous masks (many of which were decorated with feathers ). And every single one of them came to support the programs of CBH. Some did so as sponsors; Most contributed through the purchase of ticket buyers. Many guests bought live and silent auction items, purchased art, contributed to the wish wall, or bought shell ornaments. Their generosity and the fun they had was a wonder to behold.
