KC News Round Up Friday 13th September 2024

Welcome back!

It was wonderful to welcome all of our students back this week and in particular all our new joiners, especially those into Year 7 and the Lower Sixth starting their Kent College journey. It was wonderful to see all of our spaces filled with the sounds of laughter and chatting again and we look forward to seeing what our students achieve over the coming months.

Years 7, 10 and Lower Sixth Inductions

Year 7, 10 and the Lower Sixth started back a day earlier than the rest of the year groups to familiarise themselves with the school. Our new joiners spent time getting to know each other and their teachers. Years 7 and 10 received their new devices as well as having fun on the Confidence Course and the Lower Sixth had presentations from Mrs Gillings and Mrs Oogarah about life in the Sixth Form and what they can expect over the next two years.

Welcoming back our boarders

It was also great to welcome our boarders back to school, both familiar faces and new ones. This week has been all about getting to know each other with some fun team games and for the new students to get their bearings - albeit in the rain!

Work over the Holidays

As always our Estates team have been extremely busy over the holidays ensuring that the site and grounds are ready for another year. As well as essential servicing and maintenance work, other projects over the summer included installation of CCTV, replacing all lights in the New Sports Hall, repainting the Senior tennis courts, replacing the fire pit on the lawn, redecorating many rooms and lots more besides!
