Dr. Jack Parker
Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation recently wrapped up an amazing year with our annual year-end staff celebration, recognizing the people whose dedication, talent, and service continue to make our schools exceptional places for students to learn and grow. The celebration highlighted numerous individual and team accomplishments from across the district. This year brought historic achievements, including an IHSAA 4A Boys Basketball State Championship, a Dance Team State Runner-Up finish, an impressive 11th-place finish at ISSMA State Finals for the MVHS Wind Ensemble, academic team state championships, statewide educator honors, and multiple professional certifications, leadership recognitions and state honors earned by our staff members. These accomplishments reflect the extraordinary commitment our employees bring to students every day. We were also proud to recognize 79 faculty and staff members receiving Outstanding Career Achievement Awards for accomplishments ranging from advanced degrees and specialized certifications to statewide awards, grants, coaching milestones, and leadership honors. These recognitions represent not only personal achievement, but also a deep commitment to continuous growth in service of students. A special highlight of the morning was honoring the 82 faculty and staff members receiving years-of-service pins. Together, these individuals cumulatively represent hundreds upon hundreds of years dedicated to Mt. Vernon students, families, and schools. Their service has shaped classrooms, programs, traditions, and relationships that continue to impact generations of Marauders. Most importantly, we honored our retirees — individuals whose careers have left a lasting imprint on Mt. Vernon Community Schools. Collectively, our retirees depart with an incredible wealth of experience, wisdom, and service to children. Their careers have influenced thousands of students, supported countless families, and helped build the strong culture that defines Mt. Vernon today. While we will greatly miss their daily presence, we are deeply grateful for the legacy they leave behind and wish them joy and fulfillment in this next chapter of life. At Mt. Vernon, our greatest strength has always been our people: our staff, students, families, and greater community. This celebration served as a powerful reminder of the passion, excellence, and care that our staff members bring to our students each and every day.

Senior Honor Night, Service Day & Walkthrough
The Class of 2026 has been celebrated for both its achievements and its lasting impact on the Mt. Vernon community. During Senior Honor Night, proudly sponsored by the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation, seniors were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments. Whether pursuing college, careers, trades, or other opportunities, these students are ready to make their mark and accomplish great things. The senior class also demonstrated leadership and service throughout the district during Senior Work Day, helping with projects such as spreading mulch, organizing classrooms, and working on medical field trip bags to support student safety. Seniors also took time to express heartfelt gratitude to the teachers who made a lasting impact on their educational journey. Through the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation’s Thank An Educator Award program, students recognized both current and former educators who helped shape their success. Seniors also returned to their former elementary schools for a special graduate walkthrough, where young learners lined the hallways with cheers, claps, and high-fives, creating a memorable celebration for the Class of 2026. Of course, no elementary school visit would be complete without some time on the playground!
Unified Champions at MV!
During May, MVCSC proudly hosted two Unified Champion Field Days for elementary and secondary students, celebrating inclusion, teamwork, and fun. As part of the Special Olympics Unified Champions program, students with and without disabilities participated side by side in activities such as relay races, hurdle jumps, discus, long jump, frisbee, and more. The events highlighted MVCSC’s continued commitment to creating meaningful and inclusive experiences for all students.
End-of-Year Staff Celebration
As the school year comes to a close, Mt. Vernon staff celebrated with an End-of-Year Staff Celebration. Many outstanding staff members were recognized for their achievements, years of service, and dedication. MVCSC Administration and the Board of Trustees expressed appreciation to all staff for their efforts to Engage, Educate and Empower ALL students. Congratulations and thank you to all of our retirees this year. Stay in touch and enjoy your well-deserved retirement!
