PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Dear Bluejay Family,

On this beautiful Mother’s Day, we extend heartfelt blessings to all mothers in every form—biological, adoptive, spiritual, and maternal figures who reflect the loving care of our Blessed Mother, Mary. Just as Mary said “yes” to God’s call with faith and grace, we honor all who nurture, guide, and love with the same selfless devotion. May you feel cherished today and always.

As we enter the final two weeks of school, I encourage all families to remain focused and committed to finishing strong. Every day counts, and consistent attendance is vital to your child’s success and growth as we wrap up our year of learning and growth.

We are excited to celebrate our Missionary Disciples of the Year in the coming days. PreK and Kindergarten students will be recognized during their closing ceremonies this Friday. Our 8th graders will be honored at their promotion ceremony, and students in grades 1-7 will be celebrated at our Closing Mass on Friday, May 23. These recognitions reflect not just academic achievement, but the heart and spirit of discipleship we aim to form in every Bluejay.

Thank you for your continued partnership and prayers as we finish this school year with faith and joy!

Grace & Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

Mass is on Wednesday at 8:30 and will be hosted by 7th and 8th grade. Guests may join us for limited seating in church and choir loft, in the Narthex or PLC, or online at shbroussard.org/live.

This is our Candle Mass, which means an increased number of guests will be joining us. If you are seated in the PLC, you can come stand in the back of church at the end of the Mass for the ceremony.

7th grade will take a group picture in the church after Mass. 8th grade will go to the front steps of the school for their picture. Parents are welcome to join us briefly, however, students will need to return to class shortly after pictures.

Mass Music

  • Processional: “Here I Am to Worship”
  • Offertory: “Reckless Love”
  • Communion: "Gratitude", "Build My Life"
  • Recessional: "I Could Sing"

We have a new pope!

What an exciting and historic time! The first American-born pope!!! Big thanks to our teachers for being flexible and allowing our students to witness this memorable papal conclave. The students' investment into the process and joy at the white smoke was so beautiful! We are so blessed- and I personally am so grateful- to be in an environment that gets giddy at the election of a new pope! (: Let's pray for Pope Leo XIV as he strives to follow God's Will for the Church.

Service hours due

Service Hours are due Tuesday. Points will be deducted for every day that it is late. Forms will not be accepted after Thursday.

HIS HOUSE

Our next HIS HOUSE Assembly will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025. Your child should be receiving information directly from his/her house about the “Let's Glow” theme and dress options. We encourage everyone to participate and show some spirit for their beloved house. Remember: Students are encouraged to wear house colored shirts with uniform bottoms. Any accessories or costume pieces should be added before the assembly and not worn to school and should relate to the theme. Due to the nature of the assembly and the need for space, please be reminded that the assembly is reserved for student body, faculty, and staff attendance only.

UNIFORMs

PTC Thank You

Thank you to all of our PTC members who have worked so very hard this year to support our school. A very special thank you to Mrs. Wanda LeBlanc, PTC Vice President, who has served in this role for the past two years. You have done amazing job helping with Spirit Shop, color run, co-chairing The Nest for Bluejay Bash, Teacher Appreciation Week, and all the behind the scenes things that you do for St. Cecilia. Another special thank you to Mrs. Julie Sampognaro, who has served in the role of secretary this past year. We appreciate all your time and support!

Due to our two-year term limit for officers and Julie joining the SCS staff next school year, we will need to elect a new vice president and secretary. Mrs. Judy Tilly, who has done an outstanding job, will continue in her role as President for another year. Please use the link below to nominate someone that you feel may be a great fit for either of these positions by Saturday, May 17th. We will begin elections based on nominees on Sunday, May 18th. Elections will close Sunday, May 26th.

St. Cecilia Fund

The St. Cecilia Fund is an annual fund and is open through the current fiscal year. If you have not had the opportunity to give for the 2024-2025 school year, it's not too late! Please consider an end of year gift to support our school.

**** LIBRARY BOOKS ****

PARENTS!! Please be advised that your FACTS account will be billed a Library Book Replacement Fee for EACH library book that is not returned! If your child has a book that needs to be returned, please be sure they get it to Mrs. Renard or Mrs. Courtney as soon as they are finished with it. Please note that once the fees are billed and collected, no refunds will be issued. If necessary, we will place a credit on your account to be used toward any incidental charges for the 25-26 school year. Thank you for your assistance and Happy Mother's Day to all our SCS Moms!

**** CAFETERIA CHARGES ****

If your child owes a balance for cafeteria charges, please be sure that you pay the incidental bill that was sent to your FACTS account OR make your payment on your myschoolbucks account. Please note that if you paid the bill that was sent to your FACTS account, there may be additional cafeteria charges that occurred after the bill was sent. Mrs. Dorothy, our Cafeteria Manager, sends electronic statements to those families with a balance due at the beginning of each month and she will be resending them again on Monday, 5/12/25. If your FACTS account was billed for charges but you did not receive the electronic statement from Mrs. Dorothy, please reach out to her via email at stcecilia@fns-dol.org to let her know. Currently, there is no phone in the cafeteria so email is the best form of communication for the cafeteria.

2025 CHRISTIAN SCHOOL LEAGUE DIVISION II TRACK CHAMPIONS 5/6TH GRADE GIRLS, 7/8TH GRADE GIRLS, 7/8TH GRADE BOYS

Dear Bluejay Family,

Our athletic season has come to an end at St. Cecilia. Our swimming and tennis teams both finished their seasons this week. The Bluejays did not have the finish they hoped for, but as always, fought hard. Both tennis and swimming have bright futures at SCS due to the dedication of the parents and coaches to support additional sports that offers kids more opportunities to excel. In the next few years, there will be SCS athletes on swim and tennis teams in high schools, and that should make us all proud!

What a year for SCS Athletics! Be proud! We have won seven championships in the following sports across multiple divisions:

  • 5th Grade Girls Basketball
  • 7/8th Grade Football
  • 5/6th Grade Softball
  • 7/8th Grade Softball
  • 5/6th Grade Girls Track
  • 7/8th Grade Girls Track
  • 7/8th Grade Boys Track

Registration is ongoing for football, volleyball, and cross country for next season. Schedules are available on our athletics page, where you can find all the information you need for Bluejay sports. Our 7/8th Grade Football Team, 5th Grade Girls Basketball, and Softball championship gear is available to purchase.

Have a blessed day,

Scott Boudreaux
