Byron Breeze tERM 2 | wEEK 1 2025

OUR VISION

Byron Bay High School delivers a collaborative learning environment where students achieve excellence through our connection with community and land, creating holistic leaders of the future.

Welcome back for Term 2!

A message from Ms Marcus

We hope our families had a great holiday break and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. The students have come back ready and refreshed for another busy term! We have lots of quality learning opportunities and activities on the calendar again this term, so please keep an eye on your email inbox and our weekly Byron Breeze newsletter for details.

Our school hall is still undergoing construction. Unfortunately the continued work is preventing the use of the hall for any events with a large number of people.

As a result, we have adjusted our whole school ANZAC Day Assembly commemoration to a moving and reflective presentation put together by students and staff. All students participated in the presentation in their Period 4 classes yesterday. We will do a similar celebration for our upcoming International Women's Day Assembly.

Unfortunately, we have also had to postpone our Semester 1 Parent Teacher Interview evenings that were on the calendar this month. We will now hold the face-to-face Parent Teacher Interviews in the first half of Term 3 instead.

In the interim, if you would like specific feedback on the progress of your child/children please email their individual classroom teachers. Student Semester 1 reports will also be emailed home in the last week of this term.

You can find a list of our staff's email addresses on our school website:

We thank you for your understanding and for working with us during this time. When the hall is ready we look forward to holding our large school events once again.

Ms Janine Marcus - Byron Bay High School Principal

Winter uniforms

With the cooler weather ahead, it's time to start sourcing appropriate uniform items.

** IMPORTANT NOTE **

Please accept our apologies for the misleading information about jumpers published in our Term 1 | Week 11 newsletter. We incorrectly stated that students can wear either navy blue or black jumpers to school. Please be advised that NAVY BLUE is the only colour of jumpers permitted at Byron Bay High School.

For more information about the approved Byron Bay High School Uniform Policy please refer to our school website:

BBHS Winter Uniform Policy summary:

  • Long pants - students can wear plain navy or black long pants (Chinos or trackpants)
  • Denim jeans, tights and bike pants - are NOT a part of our school uniform
  • Jumpers - should be plain navy, without stripes or large logos (any external logos must be no larger than a credit card)
  • Undershirts - can be white, black, or navy blue
  • Shoes - must be totally enclosed footwear, no crocs, sandals or slides

Replenish all school supplies

All students should bring a pencil case (with pens and a calculator) to school every day. As your child starts the new school term, please make sure they have their workbooks and a pencil case ready for their classes.

E-bikes

Important safety reminder

Parents and carers, please be aware that we have had an increased number of students presenting to our Sick Bay with injuries sustained whilst riding their e-bikes to school. We seek your support in reinforcing safe and responsible e-bike use with your children.

Please remind them of the importance of wearing a helmet, following the road rules and considering the safety of pedestrians and other road users whilst they are operating their e-bike.

All bike riders are also reminded that bikes are not to be ridden in the school car-park. All bikes on the school grounds must remain on the grass and be parked in the nominated bike racks along the basketball courts.

Due to the fire risk of the batteries, any e-bikes that are not left in the nominated bike racks will be moved.

We thank you for your support as we endeavour to keep our students safe.

ANZAC Day 2025

Byron Bay ANZAC Day March and Service

Despite the rainy conditions, our school was proudly represented at the Byron Bay ANZAC Day March and Service during the school holidays.

Our school captains delivered a thoughtful speech reflecting on Australia’s involvement in military peacekeeping efforts since 1970, while members of our Student Representative Council marched respectfully through the streets in tribute to those who have served our country.

We thank all our students and families who supported this important community event, and also the Byron Bay RSL sub-Branch for inviting our students to march and speak on behalf of the youth of Byron Bay.

Ms Sammi Farrar and Ms Madelyn Sergi - SRC Coordinators
