Message from Mrs Broadhead, Principal
As we come to the end of this half term, I would like to thank everyone for such a positive and purposeful start to the new year. It has been lovely to see the children engaged in their learning, supporting each other and showing kindness across the school. As always, the wellbeing of our pupils and staff remains at the heart of everything we do. We continue to strive to be a school where children feel safe, valued and encouraged to be themselves. Alongside high expectations for learning, we place great importance on balance, ensuring time for as many enrichment activities as possible. Our Year 6 pupils have been working hard as they move towards their SATs, and we are incredibly proud of their effort and determination. We continue to remind them that they are more than a test score, and that doing their best and supporting each other truly matters.

Sustainability Visitor
The children enjoyed a fantastic visit from James from East Riding Council this week, all organised by Miss Wilson. They learnt all about climate change, sustainability and the local actions we can take to make a difference! The children asked thoughtful questions and discovered how small changes can help protect our planet for the future. Lots of great learning and inspiration for our young eco champions!
Year 6 Run With It
This half term, 6MW and 6DS have enjoyed taking part in the inspiring Run With It programme — an engaging initiative that uses real-life experiences and exciting environments to bring learning to life while developing confidence, teamwork and key skills in English and maths. The children have shown fantastic creativity and enthusiasm throughout their sessions. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Bridlington Town Football Club and Bridlington Spa for kindly providing the venues and supporting this valuable opportunity for our pupils.
Road Safety Day
We were delighted to welcome the Road Safety Team into school for a day of important learning focused on keeping our children safe in their communities. Throughout the day, pupils took part in practical, age-appropriate workshops designed to build confidence and awareness when travelling. The children learned so much and were brilliantly engaged in every session. A big thank you to the Road Safety Team for supporting our pupils to become confident, safe and responsible road users.
Safer Internet Day
The whole school took part in Safer Internet Day, a worldwide event promoting the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology! 💻🌐 Children across the school explored how to stay safe, respectful and responsible online through engaging lessons and discussions. This year’s theme focused on AI and its growing role in our digital lives, helping children understand both the exciting opportunities and the importance of making safe choices when using new technologies. We were incredibly proud of the thoughtful conversations that took place about kindness, privacy and supporting one another in the online world! 🤖✨ Parents and carers can find helpful advice and resources on supporting children to stay safe online here: https://saferinternet.org.uk
🎯 Attendance Matters
Good attendance supports children to feel confident, happy and successful in school. Thank you for continuing to prioritise attendance and punctuality — it makes a huge difference to learning. If you have any concerns surrounding your child's attendance or punctuality, please contact the school office and ask to Mrs Craven.

Reminders
Please remember to check the Lost Property box in the school entrance if your child is missing any items. Naming all uniform clearly really helps us return belongings quickly to their owners — thank you for your support.
You said, we did!
You said: Some of your children were feeling tired or a bit anxious at the start of each school day. We did: We have increased the support available for children’s wellbeing. This half term, we have added extra pastoral support and included more regular wellbeing check-ins as part of our calm and supportive start to each day. The daily toast, given free of charge to every child, has continued this half term and will continue next half term as well. These small but important changes hopefully help children feel more settled, supported and ready to learn. We will continue to review what we do and make adjustments, guided by your feedback.
We are proud to be supporting The Hinge Centre with our non-uniform day on Friday 13th February. The Hinge Centre does incredible work supporting individuals and families within our local community. If you are able to, please donate what you can — every contribution will make a difference. Thank you for your continued kindness and support.
Quay Academy ‘demonstrating strong attainment for disadvantaged pupils’.
We are happy to share that Quay Academy was recently recognised in the local press for the positive outcomes being achieved by our disadvantaged pupils. This reflects the hard work and commitment of our children, staff and families and our shared focus on ensuring every pupil is supported to achieve their very best. Thank you to everyone in our school community for playing a part in this encouraging recognition.
