NC CPA Exam Candidate Bulletin
March 2026
New Board Portal Will Include CPA Exam Applications
Exciting news! The Board will launch a new online system on April 13, 2026. This new portal replaces our paper-based application process with a streamlined, fully web-based platform. Candidates applying for the first time or submitting a re-exam application can create an account, log in, and complete the process online. To prepare for the launch, the current system will be unavailable April 4–12, 2026. During this blackout period, staff will continue to accept applications but will not process new or pending submissions. Any applications received between April 4 and April 12, 2026, will be processed once the new system goes live on April 13, 2026. As you plan your testing schedule, please keep this temporary system outage in mind, especially with the next Discipline testing window scheduled for April 1–30, 2026. If you have a pending Exam application and need to submit additional documentation, we strongly encourage you to do so by March 16, 2026. This will help ensure your application can be reviewed and processed before the blackout period begins. We’ll provide more information and instructions for setting up your account soon.
Prometric Test Center Closures
Prometric testing centers are designed to operate on a reliable schedule, but temporary closures can occur. Severe weather, natural disasters, local emergencies, power outages, or technical issues with testing equipment may make it unsafe or impractical to administer exams as scheduled. In these situations, Prometric may close a test center with little notice. Because closures can occur unexpectedly, it’s important for you to stay informed. Be sure your contact information is up to date when you schedule your appointment so you can receive email or phone notifications if your appointment is affected. You should also monitor your confirmation emails and Prometric’s Test Center Closures page for updates. If a test center closes, Prometric typically contacts candidates within 48–72 hours. Once the cancellation is processed in the system, you may reschedule your appointment during the remaining validity period of your Notice to Schedule (NTS). If you attempt to reschedule before the cancellation is processed in the system, a rescheduling fee may apply unless the change is directly related to a Prometric-initiated closure. If a closure prevents you from rescheduling or taking the Exam before your Notice to Schedule (NTS) expires, please contact the Board for assistance.
NASBA CPA Mobile App
Have you downloaded NASBA’s CPA Mobile App? The app supports candidates preparing for the Uniform CPA Exam by providing convenient, mobile-friendly access to essential Exam information and resources. North Carolina Exam candidates can use the app to
- Access Exam preparation resources,
- Track your CPA Exam scores,
- Receive personalized alerts and jurisdiction-specific guidance to help you stay organized and informed, and
- Access and download your Notice to Schedule (NTS) directly to your mobile device
The app is available on both iOS and Android.
When to Arrive at the Prometric Test Center
To ensure a smooth testing experience, please arrive at the Prometric Test Center at least 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment. If you arrive late, you may be denied entry and forfeit all fees for that Exam section. Arriving early allows enough time to complete the required check-in process, including:
- Signing in
- Undergoing a handheld metal detector screening
- Having your digital photograph and fingerprint taken
- Reviewing security and test center policies
- Being escorted to your workstation
Please note that the appointment time listed on your confirmation notice includes an additional 30 minutes beyond your actual Exam time. This extra time is reserved for logging in and completing a post-Exam survey.
