Our final week of the first Spring term was spent learning about St David's Day and finishing the week with a whole school Eisteddfod!
Miss Griffiths from the big school, came over and had the very difficult job of judging all of our competition entries! The children had been working hard to complete both school and home tasks, so much effort has gone into these and it was such a hard choice!
Our Eisteddfod was full of songs poems and celebrations. We always love going over to the big school and this year, Years 7 and 8 had some really great songs and poems to share with us. A big diolch yn fawr to them for all their hard work rehearsing!
All week, the children in all classes have been learning about our Patron Saint, St. David. There have been dragons, daffodils, cards and crafts galore!
Nursery have been making Welsh dragons out of playdough and practising their counting skills making daffodils with loose parts.
Reception have been making cards, cathedrals, castles and even dragon eggs! They learnt about the story of St. David and wrote about what type of person he was.
Year 1 made a St.David's Day card to give to their family. They also listened to the story of St. David and how helped Paulinus to see. They talked about how people who can't see are able to read and write and were able to feel a book that had been made into Braille for one of the Secondary pupils. They were so interested to feel the bumps to guess what it said.
