Colmore Junior School autumn term: week: 14

Highlights of the week

What a truly exceptional week of music and celebration we have enjoyed! We were treated to two vibrant performances from our Rock Steady bands, showcasing incredible talent and energy. Furthermore, our wonderful orchestra, choir, and dedicated recorder players delivered a fantastic concert at Elim Church, and we extend a huge thank you to all the families who came out to support them. The musical momentum continued with our End-of-Term Brass and Woodwind concerts, marking a magnificent close to the term’s instrument tuition. Please note that our orchestra will be performing again at All Saints Church on Monday with the rest of the school joining them—we look forward to seeing you there! It was also lovely to see so many children embracing the festive spirit today in their Christmas jumpers.

It was great to see the next group of children in Year 6 taking part in Bikeability. They really developed their skills on their bikes and learning about how to ride safely on the roads.

The Christmas Fair was a huge success on Saturday. It was great to see so many families joining us. Watch this space for how much money was raised by our incredible PTA.

Music took centre stage this week with the brass concert, woodwind concert, Rocksteady concerts and our Christmas highlight at Elim Church! What a talented bunch we have at Colmore! 🎶🎶🎶

We had over 250 parents and grandparents attend at Elim to watch our musicians perform. They were a fantastic bunch and really showcased the music at Colmore.

Our upper school choir and a group of cellists went to visit our friends at Pineapple Place this week. They performed to the residents who joined in with the Christmas Medley. The centre is always so supportive of music at Colmore and always gives a very generous donation to the school. The children were real ambassadors for Colmore. Massive thanks, as always, to Mrs Mapp who lead the choir and Mrs Cochrane who lead the cellists.

Congratulations to the girls football team. Who were runners up in the indoor 4-aside football competition. Mr Smith said it was a great effort and they all had such a lovely attitude.

Mr Bignot’s clubs have gone down a storm again this term. The children have been there even in the rain to enjoy the whole range of sports activities he provides.

Year 6 have been working hard in their English topic this week creating a guide on How to Steal Christmas for the Grinch! Here are some wonderful examples from 6H. Such beautifully presented work!

5BM have been revising their understanding of fractions at the end of their topic. They created these fractions games to help them to remember all the new content.

The newsletters are also accessible on the news section of our school website.
