Sharks topped the intra school competition table and added 2000 points to their total this half term! Here are the overall standings:
- Sharks 5300
- Jaguars 4500
- Wolves 2400

Parent Survey - Feedback
The statistics:
- 97% of children enjoy PE at Hedon.
- 85% of parents think PE is a priority at Hedon Primary.
- 75% of children complete Active 30:30 at home.
Feedback:
- You asked for more ‘non traditional’ after school clubs- we’ve added a Just Dance club and a Table Tennis club starting after Easter! We have also sent a letter home to expand the Debutots after school club to KS2 providing we get a minimum of 10 children.
- You didn’t know about our Year 6 play leaders- check them out below!
- You asked for mixed ability and more competitiveness- all children at Hedon Primary are already in mixed ability teams and at the end of every half term they have competitive intra school tournaments based on the subject they’ve been learning to earn house points.
- You asked for subject specific teaching in PE lessons- we already do! Check out or PE knowledge organisers on the school website to see all of the subject specific skills and vocabulary children are learning.

We had a successful afternoon at Holderness Academy playing Boccia. We won both groups and the children below all won medals too! Well done everyone for a lovely afternoon.
Our new shirts are incoming!
House Points update!
We’ve had a great half term with lots of netball and football intra competitions. I was particularly impressed with Mrs Chapman’s Year 2 Netball competition with the children all in the correct positions playing using the proper netball rules (which is very tricky!). The teams have had their scores added to the current total and it stands at:
- Sharks 4600
- Jaguars 4500
- Lions 3100
- Wolves 2550
so last years winners are currently in 4th and the third place runners up currently top the table! But it could all change at the end of term… after half term our sports are basketball and tennis!
7.2.23- Athletics
Wel done to Year 6 who competed in the Athletics finals at Bridlington. Only Inmans and Hedon qualified from the local area and it was a great opportunity for the class to represent the school in a finals event. They were amazing and came 5th. We even won the 4x100 relay infront of the crowd. A great day for all- well done!
Year 4 Zoneball 17.1.23

Active 30:30
At Hedon Primary School we aim to provide at least 30 active minutes for all pupils every single day! We try to achieve this in lots of different ways:

- Play leaders running activities during lunch times.

- Active after school clubs.
- Entering all 15 inter school competitions and festivals of sport.
- Facilitating 12 different intra school competitions each year.
- Stay and PE sessions
- 30 Days of Christmas Active Advent Calendar
Children should also be getting 30 minutes of activity at home and there are loads of ways this can be facilitated! Which do you do already? Which are you going to try to get your 30 minutes in? Could you do any as a family?
- Active travel to and from school.
- Walking the dog/family walk.
- Going on a bike ride.
- Being part of a sports club.
- Hull or Beverley park run every Saturday morning.
- Going swimming.
- Active challenges I post on here!
Watch the video below as a family and have a discussion about the physical and mental health benefits of exercise!
30 things you will do before you leave Hedon Primary…
Active Challenge for the whole family:
In partnership with Hedon Primary parent, Katy Smith and Reuben’s Voice, we are inviting you to take part in the Million Steps to Save a Million Tears Challenge. The idea is to walk a million steps from now until midnight December 31st! (This is approximately 10,000 steps a day). You can track this on pedometers/fitness watches and the whole family can join in too. The aim is to raise awareness for mental health and talk about it with family. Katy also has sponsorship forms if you wish to raise money and pedometers if you want to borrow one. When you reach a million steps, come bring your record of it to Mrs Parsons!

End of Year PE report July 2021- What a crazy year we have had! Despite all of the restrictions which have impacted inter school events, we have still achieved so much this year including introducing our House Teams (which the children have loved). This PE blog has also been a great way to share with you all of our amazing achievements throughout the year. The children have enjoyed intra-school competitions, overcome adversity with Covid and enjoyed high quality PE lessons. For the first time we have also introduced and announced our class 'Athlete of the Year' (see below for the winners). The house points have been close throughout the year and the first house cup winners have their ribbons and name engraved on the new trophy to go down in Hedon Primary history. Thank you so much for your support throughout the year and we look forward to competitions opening up again soon! Mrs Parsons, PE Lead.

- Year 6- Scarlett- For her talents displayed both inside and outside of school as well as her maturity in PE.
21/6/21 - It’s National Sports Week this week. To promote and celebrate sport at Hedon, classes will be hosting tournaments for team points, year 5 will be swimming each day and they will also all undergo play leader training ready for working with KS1 when we can mix. We are also going to be celebrating our stars who achieve success outside of school too!
May Half Term 2021- It has been great to finally get some clubs back up and running this half term and although they are still split into bubbles, the children have enjoyed basketball/table tennis, cheerleading, gymnastics and just dance. We cannot wait until we can open up further and provide more clubs to more year groups. All children have participated in intra-school competitions to earn house points and it has been lovely to see the development of this from Year 1 right up to Year 6. This development has been evident in PE lessons too. For example, year 1 using balloons to practise their tennis skills, year 3 familiarising themselves with orienteering and map reading and year 2 using javellins and discus. Year 5 have also been fortunate to have an intra school athletics competitions with the SSP and mini medics training. Additionally, year 4 have been lucky to have the expertise of Miss G Baker coming in and providing excellent athletics sessions. The team points have been updated and are shown below!!
Johnson Jaguars - 4100
Sullivan Sharks - 3950
Larkin Lions - 3800
Wilberforce Wolves - 3750
Easter 2021- Welcome to the new end of term report and news for Hedon Primary PE. Hopefully you have all had a chance to watch our promotional video launching our new House System for PE and School Sport - check it out above, on Facebook and Seesaw!
This week has been the first opportunity for children to earn points for their houses in intra school competitions. Year 5 and 6 have had basketball and netball tournaments, Year 3 have had a gymnastics competition, Year 4 have had a dance competition and Year 2 have had a ball shooting competition. As restrictions lift, younger children will be able to win points for break and lunch activities led by older play leaders, as well as KS2 children representing our school at competitive fixtures.
Overall, we are finishing the Easter term with the scores displayed at the bottom of this web page. These points are accumulated over the year through different PE subjects and are put towards the end of year Sports Day which is the final event of the year. Children are in their teams throughout their time at Hedon Primary and are aiming to win the House Cup which is presented on Sports Day. It has been a great start to the house points system and the children are already looking forward to their next tournaments at the end of their next PE subjects.
Best Wishes, Mrs Parsons
