On 17th July 2025, Digital Futures hosted an engaging hybrid lunch event featuring James Butcher, Education Development Manager EMEA at Epic Games, showcasing the incredible Epic Games ecosystem and tools available to you.
Epic Games is a leading interactive entertainment company and provider of 3D engine technology. Epic operates one of the world’s largest games, Fortnite, which is a vibrant ecosystem of social entertainment experiences including first-party games like Fortnite Battle Royale, LEGO® Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival, as well as creator-made experiences.
James introduced Epic Games and his role, then delivered an insightful presentation highlighting the practical applications and benefits that Epic Games offers. These included:
- An introduction to the Unreal Engine
- How Epic Games and the Unreal Engine can support education with real time rendering
- A tour through the Epic Games ecosystem and tools: Meta Human, Quixal Mega Scans & Twin Motion
- How and where to get access to Epic Games resources
- Ways to work together
After a successful lunch of networking and interdisciplinary interactions, many new synergies were created both in person and online.
