Project Description:

The Stephen and Denise Smith Student-Athlete Performance Center serves as the new home for Blue Raider football and provides premier training, nutrition and sports medicine amenities for all Middle Tennessee State University student-athletes. The facility is the centerpiece of Phase I of the Build Blue Campaign, a $25 million private fundraising initiative to transform MTSU’s athletics facilities. Connected to the north end of Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium, the new facility enhances convenience for athletes and staff, with the football locker room, players’ lounge, weight room, physical therapy space, nutrition area and equipment room all located on the ground level. First-floor amenities open to all student-athletes include a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning center named for Blue Raider great and NFL Pro Bowler Kevin Byard, a comprehensive sports medicine and rehabilitation center equipped with hydrotherapy pools, and a dedicated nutrition station. The second floor houses an array of football team meeting areas, including an all-team meeting room equivalent to the size of a standard movie theater, as well as offices for the coaching staff. On the third floor, the SRM Concrete Club enhances the gameday experience by offering fans premium amenities and views in the north end zone, while also serving as an athletes’ dining area during normal operations.
