Meditation For Grief

Take a breath. Let the silence hold you. You are not alone in your experience
Grief has many names and many faces, but it is a testament to your love, hope, and dreams.
“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” — Rumi
Loss is not just death. It is also absence. Of people, of jobs, of dreams, of homes, of former selves.
Grief is valid even when it can not be explained
“The soul is a flame that can never be extinguished, even by sorrow.” Hazrat Inayat Khan (India, d. 1927)
Grief is not linear. It curves, it circles, it returns. Imagine walking through a fog.
You cannot rush the fog away. You must simply walk with it.
“If there is no struggle, there is no progress.”Frederick Douglass (USA, d. 1895)
You may feel broken. That is okay. Be gentle with yourself, as you would with a child...
...or a wounded animal. Your pain is worthy of kindness.
Let yourself rest. Let the tears come if they do.
Let the silence cradle you. Even here, you are held. Even here, there is life.
It's okay to be sad and overwhelmed. We are all in this together.
