Dear Year 6 Families,
We would like to extend our thanks to all of you who attended our open events on Thursday, 26th September. It was wonderful to meet so many of you and share our school's vision, values, and vibrant community.
We truly believe that our students do say it best when talking about our school. Please do watch our video below featuring our Headteacher and student leaders talking about what makes Noadswood such a special place to be!
Please click on the link below to access the resources from last night including Miss Marshalls' and Mr Hewitt's slides, containing details of our ethos and values, our clubs and trips and our curriculum and student outcomes.
As a reminder, we understand that some of you may have additional questions or would like a more personalised visit. We are pleased to offer the opportunity for a SEND-specific visit or a second chance to come and see us on Tuesday 1st October and Wednesday 2nd October 9.15- 10.45 am, no need to book, just come along. This is a great chance to explore our facilities further and discuss any specific needs or questions you may have.
Some year 6 families may be interested in hearing more about Redwood. Redwood is our Specialist provision for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, who are academically able and present with high levels of anxiety which in turn have become a barrier to accessing learning and social opportunities.
All pupils at Redwood have an EHCP and places are agreed by County SEN following Annual Review and consultation.
If you would like to find out more or to arrange a visit please contact redwoodsemh@noadswood.hants.sch.uk
As we have said previously, it's been wonderful this month to visit each primary school, and we truly enjoyed meeting your children and their teachers. We hope that your children enjoy their ‘Noadswood reads’ and we can’t wait to read their competition entry!
We have a dedicated ‘moving up’ team who are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for each child as they move up to Noadswood. As we have said in person, families in the Waterside are so lucky to have so many superb secondary schools to choose from. Should your child choose to join Noadswood, here’s a timeline of their ‘moving up’ journey:
**Visits to each primary school**: In March, our team meets your child’s teacher to discuss their progress and needs and how we can best support their transition to our school.
**Personal visits**: We take the time to meet your children and answer any questions they may have about joining our school.
**Parent/carer evening**: An opportunity to meet us and ask any questions you may have.
**Dedicated Moving Up Days**: Two special days where pupils experience lessons at Noadswood and are welcomed into the Noadswood family.
**Summer Camp**: An exciting opportunity for our Year 6 pupils to engage in fun activities before they start their new journey.
**Year 7 Only Day**: A dedicated day at the start of the autumn term just for our new Year 7 students.
**Team Building Day**: An event to help students bond with their tutor group.
**Residential Trip to Bude**: Alongside a non-residential option, providing a chance for adventure and new friendships.
Whichever secondary school you choose, we wish your child the very best! If you have any questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at movingup@noadswood.hants.sch.uk.
Best wishes,
Eddie Rollett
