PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Dear Bluejay Family,

As we move into the third week of school, I want to commend our families for the way you have embraced new routines and supported your children in making the transition back to campus life. Each new year brings its own rhythm, and already I see students settling in with excitement, energy, and joy.

Naturally, adjusting to new expectations and routines can bring some learning curves. Please know that every guideline we put in place is designed to support a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment. These boundaries give our children the consistency they need to flourish, and when we work together to uphold them, we model perseverance and responsibility for our students. Know that we will always work with you and your child to meet those expectations. Even when the path feels narrow, it leads us toward growth, discipline, and the kind of community we want for our children.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for modeling perseverance and patience for our students as we strive toward excellence in all we do.

Grace & Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

Construction Updates

We’re excited to share the progress on campus! As you saw in our Back to School video, the new washroom is now enclosed and serving as a covered walkway across the courtyard—students have even nicknamed it the “secret passage.” Our cafeteria dining addition walls are also up, so we will see a roof soon. Inside, HVAC teams are preparing for upgraded climate control by clearing out the old mechanical room at the south end of the cafeteria.

We’re also mindful of the temporary impact on daily routines. While temperatures in our gym have held near 74° even at peak times, we know this isn’t ideal. We have already taken concrete steps that keep the gym cooler, but we have also arranged for a temporary unit to be installed in the gym kitchen to keep everyone more comfortable.

All of this work is leading up to our move back into the courtyard. After a design adjustment with our columns, we expect to be full steam ahead next week and anticipate courtyard access to be restored before our beloved Broussard Community Fair.

CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION

Missing Assignments: Check youR child's Gradebook

As previously stated, there is a new policy in the handbook regarding missing assignments. Regardless of whether a student is excused or unexcused from the assignment or assessment, teachers will enter an ‘M’ in the gradebook. This will calculate as a 0 and will reflect what the grade would be if the work is not made up by the time progress reports or report cards are issued. Your child's grade will be impacted until it is made up.

Please review your child's gradebook and encourage them to make up their work accordingly so the grade can reflect accurately as noted in the teachers' policies and procedures.

Thank you for your help with this as we work together in this partnership for our Bluejays!

STUDENT SERVICES

Attention All 6th Graders

Attention 6th Grade Students and Parents! Does your child love to sing, or do they play a musical instrument? I am excited to offer them a Music Ministry Club for any 6th grade student to join if they wish to participate in leading music with me for our School Masses this year.

The only requirements are for you to have an open heart to Praise God in song, the ability to sing and/or play an instrument, and a respectful attitude for the Holy Mass.

Meetings/Rehearsals will be offered for any 6th grade student on Tuesday afternoons from 3:00-4:00 PM, beginning September 2, 2025. PLEASE NOTE that we will not meet one Tuesday per month due to our Faculty Meetings scheduled. A full calendar of rehearsal dates will be provided with more details once you have signed up.

Please speak with your children about this opportunity and fill out the following form by August 25, 2025. I am looking forward to working with our talented young musicians! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions at gmurphy@scsbluejays.org.

God Bless,

Ms. Gabby
