Dear Parents and Carers

Here are some of the highlights from the Dripstone Middle School Science Fair, which was held on Thursday the 15th of August 2024.

SCIENCE FAIR

The second Annual Dripstone Middle School Science Fair was held on Thursday 15th of August 2024 themed “Sustainability for Survival”. It was a whole school approach that engaged approximately 500 students in a collaborative and hands-on experience. Each group developed a question that is connected to “Sustainability for Survival”, then applied STEM method to research, design and conduct experiments. Students created projects, dioramas, and presentations showcasing their findings to the broader community.

We were pleased to welcome partners from the community, including Dr. Carla Eisemberg and Sarah Stutcliffe from the Charles Darwin University, Radicle Centre for STEM; James Lugg from Power and Water; and Gregg Barker and Kyle Nelson from Casuarina Senior College, who contributed their exhibits to the fair.

A big thank you to our entire community for their support of the Science Fair. It was inspiring to see so many students, families, alumni, and community members come together to celebrate our students' hard work and achievements!

Congratulations to the outstanding effort by the Science Faculty staff and students for their impressive exhibits! The science fair provided a unique opportunity for our students to present their exceptional projects to a wider audience. It highlighted student creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration, while also making science accessible and engaging for the community. By leading this initiative, we believe that we gave students an opportunity to inspire their curiosity, solve real world problems, and build essential skills for their future.
