Welcome to Reception Class Reception, week 1 and 2

Hello to our new families who have joined us at St John's Primary and welcome back to the familiar faces from Nursery class last year. The children have spent the last two weeks settling back in and re-establishing friendships.

We have played together imaginatively in different roles. Our favourites have been playing as royalty, chefs, parents, doctors and robots.

A group of princesses on a mission.
Playing in role and writing a list for their babies.
Calling home to reassure them everything is ok.
Helping each other by being doctors.
And a robot arm extension! Very imaginative.

Phonics is underway. Thank you to everyone who has used the online videos to support your child's learning. It helps the children to enjoy the lessons when they feel good about knowing the sounds (m, a, s, d and t so far). Please ask us if you are unsure about how to find the activities on Seesaw.

Working hard at learning to read and write.

Our key story for the coming weeks is 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea' by Judith Kerr. The class have heard it a few times now and have been helping me to write labels for the food the tiger eats by sounding out the words, e.g 'buns' b-u-n-s.

Go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGLrq_0tJnE (Youtube) for an animated read aloud version of the story.

Finally, a few photos of the class hard at play...

Remember, if you have any issues or questions, please send a message via dojo or ask us at the classroom door at home time.
