The Link Integrated Services Monthly Newsletter | August, 2025

welcome to the 2025-26 School year!

It seems like school starts earlier and earlier each year! We were excited to welcome students back to school and are equally as excited to continue our partnership with you!

My name is Barb Moreng and I am the Parent Liaison with Integrated Services. Some of the ways I can help parents and families include:

  • providing information and support to help parents understand and navigate special education in PSD
  • helping parents prepare for IEP meetings
  • attending IEP meetings to ensure parent voices are heard
  • assisting parents in resolving disagreements around special education issues
  • connecting parents with resources
  • coordinating parent workshops on special education topics

Please contact me at 970-490-3225 or by email at bamoreng@psdschools.org if you need anything or if you have comments about this newsletter.

We have a lot of exciting things planned for this year to support parents and families. We will continue our monthly newsletter, The Link, (as a way to provide information), as well as meet and greets, and listening sessions (to learn what's on your mind.) We will also host a quarterly Parent Learning Community (PLC). This will include a presentation on a special education topic, an activity related to the topic, and a time for parents to connect with each other. We are also developing a parent group with more information to come.

Director's Corner

Dr. Jodie Rommel, Director of Integrated Services

Dear Families,

Happy New School Year! I hope you have had a positive start to the 2025-2026 school year!

On Monday evening (8/25), we had the ribbon cutting ceremony at our new PSD Transitions Pathways Academy (TPA). We are so excited to have a beautiful new space to support our 18–21-year-olds as they continue their growth, journey to independence, and work-ready skills. If you have any questions about TPA, please send an email to transitionpathways@psdschools.org

This year, I am forming an Integrated Services Student Organization in order to elevate students' perspectives. We will meet quarterly after school. If your child/teenager is interested in joining, please email Barb Moreng at bamoreng@psdschools.org.

Wishing you all the best,

Jodie

Feeder Zone Chart

The Integrated Services Department is organized by feeder zones. This chart will help you determine which schools are in which feeder zone and the Assistant Director of Integrated Services assigned to each.

It can be confusing to know who to call for what concern. Hopefully this flowchart will help, but please know that you can always call Barb Moreng, Parent Liaison, at 970-490-3225, for guidance!

SEAC Update

The Special Education Advisory Committee is made up of parents, community partners, and PSD school staff. The purpose of SEAC is to represent students with disabilities and advise the Special Education Leadership Team on their behalf.

We are hoping to add a student or former student who is/was served on an IEP to this committee. There are 6 meetings throughout the 2025-26 school year that are held on Wednesdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm.

If you know a current or former student who would be interested in serving on SEAC, please email Barb Moreng at bamoreng@psdschools.org.
